Dakota Runs great at the Drags

Well, I had a great Sunday, as I headed down to the drags, which was at Barona on the Indian reservation and boy, what a great drive though the mountains.

SUMMIT SERIES RACE 7 and 8

This is the series my young lad at my shop is in and doing well for his first year of racing.

At JUST 18 years old, Dakota is a unique guy, he has a passion for racing and wrenching and I was stoked to be there to give him a wee bit of moral support.

Just chillin, before he gets back on the bike, the weather proved to be a tad on the unpredictable side, as even though it was a humid as a bakers oven, every now and again, the clouds would arrive and start to drop moisture down, causing a stoppage in racing for half an hour.

Off he goes to get ready in the staging lanes and I was looking forward to seeing Nostalgia Speed and Cycles newest team member, roar down the track on his 1400 KAWASAKI.

Here he is on the inside lane and just finishing his burn out, Lucas oil is his Main sponsor and he did everyone proud by taking that win.

Weather was humid and in between the rain, Dakota stayed focused and on the ball.

 Waiting at the staging lanes.

All of Dakota’s runs were consistant and on the money, running a 5.80 at this point.

Dakota ! Ya lost your head!!!!

Dakota’s girl make sure he is ok and loves to watch him race, as well as his mum, they support all he does and I do too.

This was a great race, Dakota banged on his time, every time but in the last run his tire lit up, losing traction.

Dakota finished 3rd overall in the series, what a great result from his FIRST year of racing, I couldn’t be more prouder of him, a super weekend and a really good kid of which he will go a long way in life, he is way in front of his years and a cool mind set.

There are more races ahead and I shall be going to these to watch him do what he does best.

Here are some more photo’s of the rest of the day and what else was racing.

Labor Day Cruise

Great Labor day cruise, up at the Orange County fairgrounds this weekend.

Tons of classics from Fins and Chrome, to Rustic Tudors and Old school Hot Rods.

People cruised all day and up to 9pm, its a cool annual event,.

A little something for everyone to be honest.

I had a pretty good time just walking about the show and meeting some old mates.

Even Rodders journal was there to enjoy the Cruisin.

There is an even bigger cruise at the same location on September the 22nd with over 3000 Cars entered.

Weather was bang on, about 90 degree’s with a breeze.

if ya dig traditional Hot Rods, they were plentiful too.

Great Customs and all the motors sounded awesome as they revved up their mills as they cruised by.

No attitudes, just good times by all.

1976 CB750K for sale $4500

Right now the bike is as you see above, but it was like this below, I think it looks way sharper like the above and I am now adding a few other tricks like polished fr0nt end tonight.

Well, here we go with a running CB750K I have here at the workshop, I have just rebuilt the carb’s and got the bike going, I rode it around today and it is a fun little motor, but it is up for sale, as I am making some room in the back workshop to have a service area and thought that I would advertise it on here and of course Ebay.

The bike is a 1976K model and needs TLC, but is all there and as I said have a title for it and the numbers match.

Be a great Cafe Racer project for some one, as this has a title and runs and rides.

I think I am going to change a few things on this bike, so, today i shall pull the swing arm and fit one of my drilled 2X1 Dresda style models and then fit a 16″ rear wheel, also, I think I will take the exhausts off and fit my 4 into1 system, then this will probably have another front end in it and a set of Clubman bars, so, scroll to the bottom f this page later to day, to see if i have managed to complete any of the things I said I would get done today.

OK, I am now changing the look of this bike and so far I have changed the rear swing arm and the handle bars, and now I have fitted a 4 into 1 exhaust, and a Totally rebuilt and polished set of carbs.

You can also see I have fitted a 16 inch rear wheel and a New RED 530 Chain, as well as my Razorback seat base.

The 4 into 1 Barks like a mad dog and she runs really well and smoothly through all the gears.

I am now going to pull the front end off and rebuild the forks and polish them and fit new gators and better chrome headlight ears, so stay tuned….
