Orange Circle has their Annual Street Rod show.

Well, Jennifer went for a long ride on her Bonneville today with our 59 Club members, I had a few things to get done at home didnt have all day to ride, but what I did manage to do was jump on my Triumph Thruxton and ride down to the City of Orange for their annual car show.

Always a big turn out, I have been many times and always something new to see, so I slung my leg over the 2 wheeled machine and headed out there to see what they had on offer this year.

If you are ever in this neighborhood, always check the local rag to see what shows may be on as there is always something on from now on and as our weather is always great, you can really enjoy the atmosphere and not worry about the H20 Pouring down like so many other states still have this time of year.

I like to walk about and see what New rides have turned up, orange county has been the Hub of the Hot Rod and Custom Industry for many years and its great to be so close to so many events.

So I wanted to try and capture some of the stuff that they had at the Circle today. there was something for everyone and the weather was as good as it always is and I loved alking about in the relaxed atmosphere just checking out peoples machines.

So, below is a few photos that I have taken that I thought I would share on my Blog today.

Enjoy.

Hot Rod Reunion Bowling Green, KY- Gasser Crash!

The “Traveler” Altizer, Finders, and Kibler 33 Willys Crash Sequence

In the first round of the 1/8 mile contested AA/Gas category Ted Turley Jr. driving the “Traveler” Altizer, Finders, and Kibler 33 Willys had just beat Steve Crooks’ “Blew By You” Gasser with a 5.617 at 118.42 mph when disaster struck.  A brief puff of white smoke appeared from the car which was followed by a hard right turn that sent the car on its roof and across the track behind Crooks’ car. The 33 Willys briefly went airborne landing on its side and sliding to a stop just short of the opposite guardrail.  Turley fortunately was able to walk away from the car uninjured.      by Mike Sopko Jr.

I wanted to show these photos  today on Monday as to be honest, after this sentence no words need to be said but, glad he walked away, testament to modern structural engineering in the chassis of Drag cars, scary but Phew- it could of easily ended worse for the driver.

Mooneyes Christmas Show 2013

A Cold and wet morning awoke us and the Moon eyes Christmas show must go on, I knew there would be no drag racing but still like to support these shows none the less as it is a super social event and of course, some really cool rides turn up and great to see other people brave the colder temperatures, as this year it is unusually cold for Southern Californian’s.

This show is like Santa and only arrives once a year and I am glad we showed up to see the turn out and of course the vendors selling their goods etc.

A wet, cold and grey day at irwindale this year- but it didn’t stop people coming out to celebrate the annual event here at the strip.

Plenty of So-Cal Vee Dubs attended and showed off what they had for all and sundry.

We arrived about 10:30 ish but it was great to see some cool rides and good friends that I had not clapped eyes on in quite some time, so an awesome social event despite the weather.

Cool VW Van with Radar rims and old school lettering.

Caddy powered and also a driving ride in this weather is testament to the hardy builders that come out to the show at the colder end of the season.

It rained off and on and the temps dropped as the day went along, but we spent a couple of hours there and met some good mates who I had not seen for some time.

Cool to see some old style artwork on this Econoline, sporting Candy Blue Steelies and pin line walls.

Rides came in and out most of the morning, and that was good as you saw many different customs and rods when you came back down the isles.

No Drags as the weather was too bad, but great to see some show up and show us what they had.

Today was certainly a day for Pendeltons.

Need Hair Grease anyone?

Rain or not, the show has t go on, and- even though there was no drag racing, it was still great to see Customs and Rods attend and show off their hard work that had been put into it all the last 12 months and more.

Juan Lopez-Tsmphotography Took these pin up shots as girls braved the weather.

Many Customs still showed up and some didn’t even have glass in the vehicles. This one below did and bet they were glad of it.

We loved the 62 Caddy, this was low and had a rolled tube front grill.

Chevy Custom with DeSoto grill is always sweet to see, as them grills are getting so hard to find nowadays.

Now, thats some masking right there.

Floating grill is a nice Barris style touch.

Chevy Suburban was cleaner than our cats rear end.

Plenty of Suede paint out there this year too.

Very Sharp looking T-Bird I would of gladly driven home.

Two door 50 Custom and with candy Root beer paint and also a wicked roof shop was a head turner for me.

Show me ya grill?

I love Caddy’s.

Smoother than Kojacks skull.

A lot of subtle work done to this 52/53 and I really like it.

Step side was sweet, looks like radars on them too.

You would not lose this in a parking lot.

So some cool rides still to see and glad we made the trip.

No Hood needed.

Aztec Gold is a great color.

I really like the Blue Suede.

Another clean ride and perfect paint job. With skirts and Sombrero’s.

Two Door 56 looked pretty good in this Brown scheme, I see this blapping about our area from time to time.

Jim Dunn, me and Dakota, great to see Jim, what a Racing legend.

I am quite partial to step sides and this was no exception and looked super slick in Gloss Black.

I loved the Trumpy.

Met up with my long term mate, Dennis Roth, you should check out all the metalflake they now produce and sell.

Another year over and we had a good time, met some cool friends and saw some really sweet rides, next year will be bigger and I am hoping the weather gods will be kinder, none the less, we shall still attend, and am thinking of having a booth there too.

2013 Muscle car and corvette nationals

(Photos by Greg Rourke and Bob Chiluk) – The 2013 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals was once again a mind-bending experience for us. In was a gathering of muscle car unicorns, ultra-rare stuff that people had not seen in years, amazing race cars, factory freaks, and a whole lot more. From the barn find display to the amazing gathering of L-88 powered Corvettes, this show really brought together an incredible assemblage of American muscle cars from the glory days of Detroit. Our dudes Bob Chiluk and Greg Rourke spent some 26 hours at the event over the span of a couple days and shot hundreds and hundreds of photos. In order to keep you conscious and upright, we’re dropping them 50 at a whack. Any more than that and you’d simple black out or lose control of your bladder at some of the stuff in here.

One of the two Boss 429 Mercury Cougars that the factory built for drag racing was at the show, a host of Super Duty “swiss cheese” Pontiacs, and barn finds for days. We’re actually shaking our fist at Bob and Greg as we type this out of jealousy. You’ll do what we did when looking at these photos and every one the process is something like this, “Is that a….woah…”.

If we’re picking favorites, Fred Hurst’s ‘Cuda gasser is damned close to the top. All of Hurst’s cars were immaculate but we think this was his all time coolest. You need to pick your favorites now!
