MODS VS ROCKERS EXHIBIT . HERSHEY PA . March 19th-OCT 15th 2016

Visit to see this summer exhibit here at the AACA Museum!

Mods and Rockers were two conflicting British youth subcultures of the 1960s.

This exhibit examines the “Mods & Rockers” era in the UK.

The Rocker subculture was centered on motorcycling, and their appearance reflected that.   They generally wore protective clothing such as black leather jackets and motorcycle boots (although they sometimes wore “brothel creeper” shoes).   The common Rocker hairstyle was a pompadour, while their music genre of choice was 1950s rock and roll, played by artists like Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, and Bo Diddley.

The Mod subculture was centered on fashion and music, and many mods rode scooters.  Mods wore suits and other clean-cut outfits, and preferred 1960s music genres such as soul, rhythm and blues, ska beat music and British blues-rooted bands like The Who, The Yardbirds, and The Small Faces.

The exhibit will feature approximately 12 period motorcycles and 12 period scooters, along with material culture, photographs, and interpretive posters.

Not your average motorcycle / café bike exhibit…

The Black Tibetans- Awesome Band and a Mate of mine.

Los Angeles, CA –   Formed in 2011, the three-piece Rock N’ Roll machine consists of Dinst (vocals/guitar), Tammi Tibetan (bass), and Ryan KH (drums).  The Black Tibetans fuse motorcycle-centric culture with old-school sound combining elements of classic Rock N’ Roll, blues and punk influences.  The Black Tibetans have been on countless tours and have shared the stage with bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Eagles of Death Metal, Brody Dalle (The Distillers), Social Distortion, The Supersuckers and more.

The Black Tibetans have had the opportunity to make an impression on the fans of many.  Through this, they have earned a fan base of their own that continues to grow.  With three records and working with well-established musicians in the industry, The Black Tibetans are destined to make a name for themselves. Their most recent release,  The Nashville Session produced by Dan Auerbach is out now and available for download on iTunes.

I have Known the Singer  for many years and have to say that this is one of the best Raw, 60’s style  Garage heavy Guitar groups I have heard in a long time and a well worth a look, their Music is their own style of old and New and if I had a hat on, I would tip it their way.

Try and get to see these Trio of mayhem and raunchy style music, their music is available on I-tunes and well worth some of that hard earned coinage that you lot acquire.

If you want entertainment at its very best, there is no other Band I would rather see right now than The Black Tibetans. ” dalai lama “.

Tuesday- Toe Tapping Time

Happy Tuesday, I am not into politics so no radio on at the shop today but thought I would at least offer some sounds that I particularly like and thought that maybe you may enjoy some of the sounds that make my toes tap whilst i am doing stuff in and around the workshop.

Below is a video from Sheffield’s Epileptic Hillbilly’s. I suppose its a bit of a twisted love song listen and watch and it will all come together. This video was conceived and put together in about 6 days, I turned up with my camera thinking i was going to just film some test shots and we ended up filming the whole thing then and there. Steve recons he’s gonna get an oscar for this performance cocky twat! haha!

Another British group this time Mad Jack and the Hatters with their 2nd Video from UK Rockabilly band ‘Mad Jack & The Hatters’. The Video was Filmed and Directed by Marc Price & Dominic Brunt, Edited by Dominic Brunt. Guest starring Jo-Ann Mitchell. The song is from the Album ‘ Beware Of The Dog’ on Popeye Records. It is available now on Vinyl / Cd or Download. Find Tunes, Pictures, Tour dates and more at www.madjackandthehatters.com

Below is The Lucky Bullets – Midnight Treat recorded in Berlin.

This time from Norway the Lucky Bullets and Fire down below!

This vid got deleted from youtube at some point. So here it is again. It was made at Fiskå pub, in Norway. The song was The Lucky Bullets contribution for the Norwegian Euro Vision Song Contest 2011. We came 3rd. Thanks to everyone who voted for us!

Half way through the week, lets get some tunes going.

Hey all
Well its Hump day and just in case that your flame is slowly burning out, here is a little more petroleum to fuel that flame back into a fire, this should at least help you get through the day and get your toes and fingers a tapping.

Try and support your local bands as its that of which keeps them going and hopefully one day will get them a recording contract.
So first up here is , The Hell Bound Hep cats.

Now we cross the pond to Australia to hear Wes Pudsey and the Somic Aces bang out ” My baby looks like Betty Page.

Some Swedish Music here, a little too pop Music but they still have a great stage presence and Bass line but worth watching.

Top Cats and ” Baby Doll”

One of the First bands I ever saw back in 1982 back home in the UK and still Rockin it today, here is the infamous Blue cats and “Billy Ruffian”
Just to explain what Billy Ruffian is:
HMS Bellerophon was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. Launched in 1786, she served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, mostly on blockades or convoy escort duties. Known to sailors as the “Billy Ruffian”, she fought in three fleet actions, the Glorious First of June, the Battle of the Nile and the Battle of Trafalgar, and was the ship aboard which Napoleon finally surrendered, ending 22 years of nearly continuous war with France.

Here is some strange Zombie Video that i thought would grab your attention today via Kitty In A Casket: Kreepsville 666.

Here is a different version of train kept a Rolling by Sandy and the Wild Wombats.

Sandy Lee and The Wantons – Wake Up is a great Bass song with a Classic twist.

Something a little different as a Mixture of Rockabilly, Country and Folk and this is a good song to be honest.

The Beat Devils – Night Falls Down

Now lets give this a little Hot Sauce but at a slow pace, something you dont see but hear a lot and this is something unusual but for some reason I find it entertaining, warm and fun to watch, up to you but I dig the look.

CHILLI CON CURTIS – This Is Your Life

From Back home a little taster.

‘Young & Wild’ Rhythm Shakers/Caezars DVD trailer (15th Rockabilly Rave) BOPFLIX

Happy Wednesday hope you liked it.

Some More Music to work by today.

Monday is always a hard start to the week, especially after the Super Bowl, so- to help you a long a little bit easier I have chosen some tunes to give you a little spring in your step.

So turn the volume up and listen to some cool Toe Tapping sounds.

Below we have Sandy Lee.

Next up with more cool European Rhythm , we have Nico Duportal

Now we go Down Under with one of Australia’s top Rockin bands. Pat Capocci

On wards we go with some cool Ukrainian Rockabilly. with the Wise Guyz.

Now we have a super Bopper that i can never get enough of, this is Marcel Bontempi – Dig A Hole.

Here we have Don’t Know much by the talanted Re-Chrods.

Here we have the Cell mates and that Rockabilly feeling.

Finally a Super band from Back home The Caezars and ” Hail Caezar, fantastic band live too.

Some tunes to blow away the cold blues.

Saturday, its a little cooler today but not like back home for sure and to remind me of the cold and wet of jolly old England, here is some cool stuff I know that you will enjoy if you are interested in rhythm and blues.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is a name I am sure you would of not heard of, she was to me, one of the best Blues- Gospel artists who never got the recognition of her skills. Elvis Presley adorned her Music, Chuck Berry listened and learned from her chords, this Black woman from the USA started this style of picking that nobody had ever heard before.
For me, she was and always will be “The Godmother of Rock n roll”

Below we start of with her on a British tour and yes in the wind and the rain, she still entertained the crowd and gets right into er guitar, not many would even do that today, so sit back and enjoy the talents of Rosetta and her booming Vocal chords.

I will never tire of her classic songs that are delivered with more punch than Mike Tyson, what a thunderous champion of the Blues.

cropped-shout-it-out-sister

So I sure hope not only are you amazed to not of heard of this wonderful lady, but with any luck like me, you will stop and think that she deserves so much recognition into the Rock n Roll hall of fame.

I was amazed by her power of her vocal chords, she also was a great guitar player and just had that natural ability to pull in the crowd, you cannot help but love this woman, I was blown away by her presence and musical talent.

So here is a documentary if you are hooked like i was many years ago, this will tell you all about this wonderful lady of the Blues!

Enjoy.

Thursday Tunes- something to make the day go by way smoother.

Happy Thursday Folks

I have been into Classic Rockin tunes for as long as I can remember and Today I thought I would share just a few twangy tunes that I have always dug. Instrumentals are a great form of entertainment, I cannot carry a not in a bucket but can play the air guitar like a pro.

So below are some great Instrumentals that I have always dug, I know you may not like them all but I really do and thought that you may like

OK, first up with a little “Uprising” by the Cherokees.

If you liked that then you may well indeed be into the next band, which have this awesome 1961 hit that always got people jiving on the dancefloor.

This is “Stick Shift- by the Duals.

These are Los Beatniks from Mexico, not the Argentine group of the same name.
For those who don’t know the geography of Mexico, Tampico is a city in the state of Tamaulipas.

Next up we have a great 60’s sound from The 2nd Track of of the self titled release by The Reigning Monarchs.

I have no Idea why The Fireballs give reference to this title being a Bulldog- But as I own one, thought I’d bung it in here anyway.

Now we are off to a little Burlesque style shaker named Wo’Now by the Milkshakes.

Here we are with a great rendition of “Linda” by the Starfires.

I loved Jiving to this many years ago and always a hit on the dance floor, this time we have.

Lastly, you have to finish this series off with the classic “The Whip” By the Frantics!
