HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO YOU ALL !

WOW! That 365 days sure shoots by faster than a Scud missile, here we are on the 4th, its still in the AM and First off I want to thank ALL service Men and Women that have served and/or still are serving, its at this time we say thanks to you ALL and if you see a Army, Navy Air Force Soldier, shake their hand and thank them, it goes a long way and to be honest, really shows that you do care, as they do way more than you will ever comprehend.

????????????????????????????????????

Today I shall be celebrating with friends that were originally across the pond and yes, just like me a Redcoat- but, if it wasnt for 1776, then I would not be here, I grew up on the East side of Great Britain and was introduced to the American lifestlye through the USAF bases that were strewn all over East Anglia.

????????????????????????????????????

Originally based here in WW2, and still a few bases there today, I regularly attended the air shows and was taken in by the American way of life and fell in love with that lifestyle and here I am today , living in Southern California and feeling how Lucky I am to have the Freedom to do what I do and of course all my friends over here too.

So, I raise my Glass to the United States Of America and celebrate this day and will do Every year and hope that you do too, fly the flag, show your passion.

Have fun today and watch the fireworks tonight, we shall be making our presence known for sure.

Happy 241 years and counting, until next year, be safe and have fun with your life.

Happy Thursday to you all.

Good to see Carpy and what better shop to see on 360? #theta360 – Spherical Image – RICOH THETA

Well Happy Thursday everyone, seems to come around way too fast, so this morning this will not be a huge Blog just as quick hello as people do follow what I do on the website.
Just amazing about technology and how far it has come, as the above is a few seconds that my buddy Zach Siglow recorded when he came to my shop to pick up his Motorcycle.
I am blown away with what technology can do to help in small businesses.

There are so many that can now render a bike on a computer to show a potential customer what their machine may look like, and they can see it right away, as before pen and paper and numerous phone calls and meets would take place.

If I had to design, say a Sportster for a client, with a few key strokes and the help of a 3D image piece of software, anything is possible.

Look how awesome this is for a Honda Twin Cafe Racer design for a customer, just insane eh?

Just check out the design of this Triumph Bonneville, I am so stunned by how cool this looks and am sure the Customer would be amazed too.

Just an infinite amount of ideas and prototypes you could do with out the days of sketching and trying parts to see if they can fit on the real bike.

Just wish I had the time right now to make something up and of course the software but- I think that is the way things are going and to be honest , I love it.

Look at how cool this rendering is of a CB750 in the style that I create.

Simply a joy to look at, so if you have the time, maybe have a go and let me know how you get on?

Its just your time and imagination you need and of course, a bucket load of Gold nuggets for the software. Ha Ha

Have a Great Thursday.

Now this is what we need many more of, Cool Girls building Motorcycles.

How cool is this to watch, what a brilliant thing it is to see and I sure hope that seeing “Sofi T Singos of GT- Moto inspires many more women to get into this trade as it is so refreshing and I know there are a ton of gear head girls out there.   If I had a hat on Sofi- I would take it off to you right now. Just wanted to share this with you this weekend, it made my day.

So today is dedicated to Girl builders and Riders and I hope some of you drop me a line with photos and stories as we need strong minded and Motorcycle Riding woman on the road and at shows as I know there are many of you out there all over the world. girl builder2

I look forward to seeing more about this young Lady as she has the drive that many of us builders have and it is great to see.

Its great to see someone with real passion over their craft and to be able to go further and ride and race their machine is brilliant.

Having many strings to your bow is always a bonus and here we can see Sofi doing her thing with the Tig.

A refreshing sight to behold and i am stoked to see more and more women involved in our sport and hobby.

From welding to wrenching, Sofi does it all much respect to you for doing what you love t do and making it a career.

Cut, grind weld, thats just a small amount of things needed when building bikes or designing parts and Sofi has the gift for sure.

Racing is also in her blood as she takes the inside line and lays that Knee down on a right hander.

I look forward to seeing her work at shows and in the media, its all cool and very eye catching, great job on the Honda.

So, all you girls that want to wrench or are doing it in the garage at home, here s a great inspiration for you.

Have a Great weekend and many thanks for checking Sofi out on here, to see more on what she does go to  http://www.gt-moto.com/

Come on Girls, send me your Bio’s so we can promote you lot as we need more Girls to do this stuff and am looking forward to seeing it all.

Ace Cafe in Florida

Whilst I am still in The UK spending time with my poor Mum, I thought I would try and add a video etc for the Blog and keep you up to speed on other things.

The Ace cafe for instance,
Check out the below video link to the recent “Ground Breaking” ceremony with the Mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer – some great vehicles turned up for the event! At some point it was “Gentlemen Start Your Engines”, so that day will forever now be known as the “Ground Shaking” event and be held annually! It is planned that the cafe be fully operational in October.

Ace Cafe, a British hub for vintage-motorcycle and custom-car events, plans to open its first U.S. complex in downtown Orlando within a year.

Owners of the Ace brand, with its “petrol and speed” cult following, have signed a long-term lease for acreage and several industrial buildings facing Interstate 4 at Livingston Street, next to the downtown Lynx and SunRail stations.

I think it will be an iconic, symbolic destination,” said Mark McKee, who bought the Ace Cafe rights for North America several years ago and since has staged auctions and events with celebrities, including Jay Leno and Billy Joel.

Initial plans call for a restaurant and bar, a shop for Ace Cafe’s Rockers merchandise and a motorcycle dealership, which would likely specialize in European brands. Ace might build a motorcycle museum and repair shop later

The London Ace Cafe draws thousands of motorcycle and car enthusiasts to its 400 annual events. The Orlando operation would be larger, with 3 acres and more than 16,000 square feet of space, executives said.

The new cafe would provide a meeting place for car and motorcycle fans, with surface parking for fans to show up in their rides and garage parking nearby. Events could include everything from Old Ford Night and Mini Cooper meetups to gatherings for motorcycle clubs.

Thomas Chatmon, executive director of the city’s Downtown Development Board, said the project is unusual for the central business district because it serves as a destination for both the general public and for fans of motorcycle, car and truck shows. In addition, he said, it will reuse an existing building. The H2O Church now meets there, and McKee said he is in discussions with church leaders about accommodating them on the site.

The process of bringing an old building, the brick-clad 1926 Harry P. Leu Building, up to currentstandards is rigorous but attainable, Chatmon said. Meetings that Ace executives have had so far with the city, before applying for necessary permits, have gone well, he added.

The flagship Ace Cafe in London operated from 1938 through 1969, attracting “cafe racers” who literally raced through city streets to cafes that catered to the emerging American rock scene.

The idea was resurrected in 1994 when former mounted policeman Mark Wilsmore organized a Rocker Reunion for cafe devotees. Three years later, Wilsmore reopened the cafe, which has been featured in books, films and a BBC series. Last year, he was instrumental in opening an Ace Cafe in Beijing. The Orlando cafe would be world’s third.

Orlando stood out from about a dozen possible U.S. locations because of weather, internationalvisitors, British tourists and proximity to Daytona Beach, with its speedway and Bike Week crowds.

“It was between us and Las Vegas as we identified this site in October 2011,” said Bobby Palta, vice president with the CBRE brokerage in Orlando. “The lease negotiation was the hardest I’ve ever done. But 18 months later, we had a signed deal. In the end, Orlando won the day, and the Ace will be coming to downtown.”

Ace-Cafe-Orlando-rendering

Speaking by phone from the original Ace Cafe last week, Wilsmore said he and McKee, who lives in Kansas City, visited about 20 prospective sites in Orlando before choosing the spot on Livingston Street 18 months ago.

“Our agent had prepared a portfolio of properties. We jumped in a rather large vehicle. We would pull up to one and say ‘Keep driving.’ Pull up to another — ‘Keep driving,’ ” the Londoner said. “Once we got to this site, well, what we said would really be an expletive. It was spot-on — absolutely bang-on.”

Walking through the high-ceilinged building where the H2O Church now meets, McKee outlined plans for an industrial-style space with dining priced for repeat business instead of special occasions. He said his design team intends to restore an existing stage for concerts; build space for fundraisers by the 59 Club, which is billed as the largest motorcycle club in the world; and create offices for Ace Cafe North America. He could not say how much the company plans to invest in a renovation.

“We purposefully stayed away from International Drive because we wanted urban buildings to fit with the Ace brand,” said McKee, a former restaurateur and franchise developer.

Irwindale Drags on Sunday !!!!

Sunday at Irwindale !!!!

Sunday was a good morning for me, the clouds were nice and grey for a while. what we call JUNE gloom was here in Southern California, something I enjoy, as by Mid-day, the Sun burns the clouds away and gets hot.

Kota has a New ZRX Kawasaki and this was his first shake down run to see how the bike handles and he reacts to , as this has a longer wheel base as well as a little bit more power from the New model.

Sunday was overcast to start with but good to see people there, Kota was getting ready for his first run and needed to see how the bike would perform, as this is a Brand new bike with new clutch set up etc,, and after a steady Burn out, he ran hard and fast, the tire hooking and launching him down the 1/8th mile tarmac.

t was determined after another Pass, that the rear tire seemed to be spinning too much, but that can be a multitude of things on a new bike, for one, Kota weighs about 140 and this could be an issue why the rear lights up, he may need to eat more Burrito’s to get some serious weight at the rear.

The clutch needed some fine adjustment and tire pressure etc but thats all part of the day in Drag racing.

Dakota sits in the staging area, his Girlfriend ” Taylor” is there to give him support, and to her right is Kota’s lovely Mum Jennifer as she always makes sure to give him a good luck hug before he gets on the track.

Aaron sits on his ride and gets ready to take the 1/8th mile with anticipation of a good ET.

Dakota above getting a run in, but clutch and tire issues for this new ride is causing a few headaches and frustrations.

Dakota’s dad- Aaron Pine, getting to grips with his ride. As the temperature starts to climb on this muggy morning at Irwindale.

The track was warming up, but unfortunately the track is never cleaned up as much as everyone would like, and that can cause all sorts of issues further on in the day.

There were a few Brands out there, Harley, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda. so someone favorite brand to root for.

Last minute checks before Aaron takes off and hopes to run mid 5 seconds on His Suzuki.

Pop’s giving Dakota some last minute tips before he ventures forward and gets to  his race lane.

Words of advice from the ” Old man “.

Time for Dakota to contemplate what he has to do in the next few minutes, you need to “Focus” when you are running a 6 second or less 2 wheeled drag bike.

Mum’s good luck tap and then its up to her lad to come up with the goods.

Aaron and Bob try and sort out the clutch issue on this run as the tire was lighting up, and with a bag full of MTC parts, this should be back together in no time at all.

MTC design great clutch kits that give you many variables in drag racing and they are sure glad they have them supplying their parts for the bikes.

Kota back out again to see if he can dial his New machine in, the track wasn’t helping either as the Sun was out and the track seemed to deteriorate fast.

There was more rubber laying around than a Trojan manufacturing machine being serviced.

Kota kai up on the left lane and getting ready to launch , whilst his pops is checking the lane out before its his turn. Whilst Grandpa Bob gets ready for both of his lads.

More stuff to try and dial in, some times things like this can be a bit of a headache to get the thing to how you want.

Well, Dakota looking a little bewildered, and not surprising on a Brand New machine, nothing goes right out of the box as we would all be racing.

Kota looking on as he has seen some Vintage tin that his Boss really digs.

Yep! That’s a Genuine 650 Tiger 110 and these are a rare breed in this condition that’s for sure.

OK, here we go again, time to take bike off the stand and head back to the track.

Taylor and Dakota spend a few minutes together.

Taylor, reminding Kota that even though she has Denim shorts on, ” She” wears the trousers.

Yes dear, I understand.

Grandpa and Kota with the fist pump, many drag racers like to stick to their ” Special ” good luck routines before each pass.

Mum gives her boy a pat to let him know she loves him and wishes him luck before he leaves for the lanes.

Kota lights them up, we think he may fare better with a full slick next race.

Back again to see if the clutch is set to how they want it, once this bike is dialed in, you just watch Kota fly.

Yes I know, unlimited texting, nice!

Vintage Iron was there all day banging fenders.

More bikes and I love watching them, I never did this as a youngster, always wished I could but love going to the drags any time.

” Hey whats that?” Looks like NOS to me?

Jeez! I haven’t seen centerlines for years !!!

An array of cars and trucks turn up for Summit and love to see, hear and smell the whole event.

Tri Chevy ran hard all day.

Mid 9’s getting back from a run, and the day was full of tire burning fun for me, the lads didn’t fair well this time but I assure you, when these guys are set and the track is in good condition, they go all the way.

I had A blast-TRY AND GET OUT TO THE DRAGS IF YOU CAN AS IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR AND I AM SURE YOU WIULL GET HOOKED LIKE I HAVE?

I want to thank Aaron, Bob, and of course Dakota for  a cool Sunday as always and I look forward to July for their next encounter, try and come out and watch too, you will love it.
