Toe Tapping Tunes for Thursday

Hey there you lot

Some people ask me what songs I like, I have a varied range of interests in the Rockabilly, Rhythm and Blues, Country and even Cajun, I shall add some somgs I like Old and New and maybe you will enjoy these.

Back in the day when I was going to my first Rock N Roll weekenders in 82, Below is the song Zodiac- by the Rhythm Hawks and is about their Ford Zodiac, I had a Consul and a Zephyr but the Zodiac was like the Cadillac of fords back then.

That was a toe tapping song and that brings me right up to date and this time it is with this great young and up coming band called The Runawayz and are doing their version of it.

Now Steve Gibbons Band did this song when I was young and impressionable and I really wanted a BSA when I first heard this hit. I can hear Ronnie dawsons style in this.

The Kabooms from Argentina with a great tune. ” I got News for you”

Next up back home in UK is:
BOPFLIX SESSION with THE DOEL BROTHERS (UK) performing track ‘Futile Blues’, out on El Toro Records. Filmed in Alton, UK (Feb, 2017).

Awesome grungy sounds of the Delta Bombers.

Here is a wicked video filmed at my mates Vinyl shop in Camden. BOPFLIX SESSION with Sarah Vista performing new track ‘I Wish You Hell’, out now on 45′ on Gallow Romantic Records! Filmed at Sounds That Swing (No Hit Records), Camden, London (2016).

Now the Pringles are from japan and Bopflix recorded this, awesome to see.

‘Coming In Hot’ Pat Capocci RUBY RECORDS (bopflix sessions) BOPFLIX is a superb song as Pat is one of them Natural old style Rockin voices you will eat up.

Some tunes to blow away the cold blues.

Saturday, its a little cooler today but not like back home for sure and to remind me of the cold and wet of jolly old England, here is some cool stuff I know that you will enjoy if you are interested in rhythm and blues.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is a name I am sure you would of not heard of, she was to me, one of the best Blues- Gospel artists who never got the recognition of her skills. Elvis Presley adorned her Music, Chuck Berry listened and learned from her chords, this Black woman from the USA started this style of picking that nobody had ever heard before.
For me, she was and always will be “The Godmother of Rock n roll”

Below we start of with her on a British tour and yes in the wind and the rain, she still entertained the crowd and gets right into er guitar, not many would even do that today, so sit back and enjoy the talents of Rosetta and her booming Vocal chords.

I will never tire of her classic songs that are delivered with more punch than Mike Tyson, what a thunderous champion of the Blues.

cropped-shout-it-out-sister

So I sure hope not only are you amazed to not of heard of this wonderful lady, but with any luck like me, you will stop and think that she deserves so much recognition into the Rock n Roll hall of fame.

I was amazed by her power of her vocal chords, she also was a great guitar player and just had that natural ability to pull in the crowd, you cannot help but love this woman, I was blown away by her presence and musical talent.

So here is a documentary if you are hooked like i was many years ago, this will tell you all about this wonderful lady of the Blues!

Enjoy.

Thursday Tunes- something to make the day go by way smoother.

Happy Thursday Folks

I have been into Classic Rockin tunes for as long as I can remember and Today I thought I would share just a few twangy tunes that I have always dug. Instrumentals are a great form of entertainment, I cannot carry a not in a bucket but can play the air guitar like a pro.

So below are some great Instrumentals that I have always dug, I know you may not like them all but I really do and thought that you may like

OK, first up with a little “Uprising” by the Cherokees.

If you liked that then you may well indeed be into the next band, which have this awesome 1961 hit that always got people jiving on the dancefloor.

This is “Stick Shift- by the Duals.

These are Los Beatniks from Mexico, not the Argentine group of the same name.
For those who don’t know the geography of Mexico, Tampico is a city in the state of Tamaulipas.

Next up we have a great 60’s sound from The 2nd Track of of the self titled release by The Reigning Monarchs.

I have no Idea why The Fireballs give reference to this title being a Bulldog- But as I own one, thought I’d bung it in here anyway.

Now we are off to a little Burlesque style shaker named Wo’Now by the Milkshakes.

Here we are with a great rendition of “Linda” by the Starfires.

I loved Jiving to this many years ago and always a hit on the dance floor, this time we have.

Lastly, you have to finish this series off with the classic “The Whip” By the Frantics!

Viva Las Vegas 18 part 4

tiki-pool-party.1-of-2

The Tiki Pool Party has become one of the major events at VLV, and will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It is a great opportunity for girls (and guys!) to show off their vintage swimwear.  New to VLV18 – The Pool Party will begin early, at 9am, on Sunday!

CABANAS AT VLV

As you know, there are a limited number of cabanas at the pool for VLV and the hotel is getting a lot of requests so here is the plan. A cabana for Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be $250 for a day. That includes guaranteed entry to the pool area for 10 people. Between now and March 8th please send an email to cabana@vivalasvegas.net On that day we will randomly draw winners who will then be able to phone the hotel and deal with the payment.

Don’t forget that the pool party will be for 3 days this time and you will automatically be entered into the drawing for all 3 days. The hotel also hopes to have even more cabanas installed by then.

Please only use cabana@vivalasvegas.net for entering the draw. If you have questions please email tom@vivalasvegas.net

Cool Tunes that I listen too.

OK, for your Morning Cup of CAFE, here we are with a few sounds that I like to listen to from time to time.

Good friends of mine are Big Sandy and his Fly Rite Boys, his lead Guitarist – Ashley Kingman has been a mate of mine for quite a few decades now when we had BSA Bantams and used to head out to Hemsby for a Rockin Weekender, this band has been around for many Moons and never tire of their cool style.
And great to see them on late Night with Conan OBrian, so get this band out to the world on a Major TV network.

So being a blog on Tuesday, here are some tracks I dig that you can play whilst you work, some you may like, some you may not, but I dig it all and thanks for looking.
