Welcome to my New website.

Hey All

Well, this may take a little bit of time, but I wanted to have a New website, as I have had the original one for many many years, and now it is time for change and of course, I have to stretch my idea’s, imagination and of course, pocket book, to many new products at my shop in Orange California.

My company is known as Nostalgia speed and Cycle, but most of you know me as Carpy.

Not meaning to blow my proverbial trumpet, but- when I came here to the Great USA in Feb15th 2000, nobody- and I mean nobody even knew what a Cafe Racer was.

Lucky for me, I grew up with these machines and have always been part of my life and, many of my friends back home, it was just a natural progession when I moved here, so much in fact, I was the First person to regularly use CB750’s as the platform for later Cafe Racer machines.  People may boast and shout they did this years ago, but show me the photos and dates, as I even had to paint the name CAFE on my gas tank in old English in 2000 as everybody kept asking me what sort of motorcycle I was riding.

Now, 12 years later, many Cafe Racer builders have hit the states and the globe, its a fun and refreshing scene that I really believe has brought people closer together in a friendlier biking fraternitiy.

How so?

Well, I still get over 100 emails a week, I get many emails from people all over the world and from many walks of life, telling me that I have inspired them to get off their arse and start to wrench, thats such a cool feeling for me and I also get many emails and phone calls from fathers who have had a few issues with their son and as they had an old bike in their garage, the father and son build has become really popular and has bonded them in a way that no other interest would of worked.

Where do I see Cafe Racers going in the future????

Upward and onward, as I see some stuff on the internet that simply blows my mind, todays builders are very very talented and to mix and old and new is now becoming very popular, todays builders are tomorrows engineers and this will reflect on the Motorcycle industry, as I know that all the major brands have now actually sat up and taken note that the Cafe Racer has now become popular and has brought many people together.

I still get many enthusiasts from all over the world that  pop into my new shop, yesterday I had some people from Paris ( France ) and they were builders, then on Sunday I had two people all the way from Hungary come over and wanted to meet me, I am always totally gobsmaked they know who I am to be honest and always have time for people.

I will continue to create Cafe Racer motorcycles and will now be making and designing more and more parts to fit these great machines, so keep checking back on the ever growing website, I have many idea’s and of course, public participation is going to be emmulated in this website as input from you is very important.

Follow me on here, as well as Facebook and Twitter etc as you will get to know me as a real person, this is My life, not just a job.

I started in my garage at home and now have an 8000 square foot shop, the store front is 2000 square feet where I sell my products and now I am selling parts for Hot Rods and Customs of which I have always been into and of course built and owned.

Please, if you are ever in Orange County, drop in and say hello, as its always cool to meet you in person.

Thanks for reading this, remember, it is you who put me on the map, I want to thank everyone for giving me a chance and for purchasing my parts, I am here to help, I am not into the One upmanship aspect of this trade, as we are all equal and deserve to all have fun and make friends in this ever growing industry.

Stay tuned on my blogs as I hope to be inputting all sorts of things from tips and tricks to Videos etc.

PEACE AND GREASE

CARPY

SHOP TOUR:

THE NEW NOSTALGIA SPEED AND CYCLE

Where??????  1048 W.Collins Ave. Orange Ca 92867

Shop: 714-744-4597

Most of you remember the old  shop as Dagel’s Speed Shop?

Well Much Has Changed My Friend!..  The main staircase had to be removed and the back wall was pushed back about 20 feet to enlarge the show room / store front. The walls where then covered in wood to offer up an old school speed shop look and a small “Speed Shop” room was added to the side which houses a small Shop display and will later house refreshments for customers. Also unlike other shops around Orange we have a public bathroom and we don’t get all jerky when you try and use it. ( or- Block it for that matter)

A whole ton of memorabilia was added to the walls and with that, the shop started to take on a look and feel out of a HOT ROD MAGAZINE. Our 8K square foot space holds not only Classic Cafe bike parts and accessories, but we have added a whole new Hot Rod Division. Right now we specialize in early Ford cars and trucks. We hope to expand into Chevy and Muscle car parts as things progress. The shop is a real work of art and always worth a trip in to see what is new. Take a look at the finished pictures below to see just how fun this shop has become.

Thanks for taking a look around. Now get off your bum and come take a look for yourself. Our Helpful staff is ready to serve you.

We are proud to say that even if we cannot supply your needs,- we can get it, and by golly- we will try our hardest to make sure you are happy.  We believe that if you look after the customer, the customer will look after you.

The shop will be adding parts all the time, so be sure to keep checking back to see the array of cool Hot Rod and Cafe Racer products available.

We shall be selling all sorts of cool parts, we have many dealerships now, so I can sell you anything from the likes of Firestone full  white walls, to Moon eyes Gas tanks.

We sell small parts that are an essential part of your garage needs, to a full on 1928,1929, Model A Closed cab pick up, as well as offering services for a complete rolling 32 ford chassis, you just chose what stage kit you require and…. Whamo!  You will have it in a flash.

We want to stay loyal to our clientele and in time- I am sure we will make many more friends, so please- keep coming back to check inventory, as well as come visit the Speed Shop and have a coffee, on US…..

G’Day A New Steel Pickups From Down Under

Here is a great article about on of our Owners. Take a Look. All the parts Featured are available here at NSC.

Back in 2008, we documented the buildup of a new all-steel 1934 Ford phaeton being produced by our mate from Australia, Kelvin Waddington- we then spent the rest of that summer touring the country in the touring car and came away extremely impressed with its quality of construction. A season of running all over the country and there wasn’t a squeak or rattle to be heard. The four-door was as tight as the day we pulled out of the office parking lot for the first time.

As we were familiar with the phaeton and the ’34 Utes Waddington produced, he was asked during a bench racing session with the author, Brian Brennan, and Tex Smith, what other bodies he had built. Almost casually Waddington replied that a stretched Model A pickup had been created from scratch for a customer and he was thinking about putting them in production. We’re pleased to report the thought process reached its conclusion and a new cab is as close as your phone.

1934 Ford Phaeton Cab
Three versions of the pickup…

While Ford offered a variety of cars in Australia, the closed cab ’28-29 or ’30-31 pickup was not among them so the new offering is pure red, white, and blue in terms of basic styling, however, there are three distinct configurations. We’ll start with the stock version: it has totally original dimensions, a wooden framework around the doors, and for the fabric top, original-style door latches; it even has a stock-style firewall and gas tank (although a legally mandated rollover valve is incorporated in the filler neck). If you want an original Model A this is the closest thing to an NOS body you’re likely to find. In fact all panels, including the doors, are said to interchange with originals.

For street rod applications Waddington has included some modifications that will be appreciated-first and foremost everything in the body is steel. The stamped steel B-pillars have built-in seat belt anchors with multiple attachment points to suit the height of the driver and passenger, the roof is steel and rain gutters have been added. As with the original design, the doors overlap the body at the back. Speaking of doors, two types of latches are available, stock reproductions and bear claws that operate by original-looking levers. To accommodate most V-8 engines and automatic transmissions a 4-inch recessed firewall that blends into the floor with a built-in transmission tunnel is available as is a stock-style firewall.

1934 Ford Phaeton Fully Restored At Bonneville Salt Flats
Waddington Street Rod and…

While the beloved A-bone pickup has plenty of hot rod charisma one thing it doesn’t have an abundance of is interior room, so to make the truck more user-friendly a version with a 6-inch stretch aft the doors is available-other than the length all other aspects of the cab remain the same.

Although it goes without saying that building a body from scratch is a monumental undertaking, according to Waddington the biggest obstacles were the doors-the curves, body lines, and the area around the windows were all challenging and it has taken time and a huge financial investment to get them, and everything else, right. Of course another challenge is in fact making everything else. Hinges, latches, and all the little bits and pieces that hold the body together are all made in-house, including the dashboard that is a stamped replica of the stock gas tank face. About the only thing not made in the Australian shop are the garnish moldings and the trim alongside the windshield, however, those are readily available from stateside sources and are options on the new bodies.

If you’ve been thinking of building a half-ton hauler here are several great alternatives to rust ravaged, bullet-riddled, former farm trucks-and they are available now. Check out the Roadster Ute website for a U.S. distributor.

Blog Reads:
First we stopped at Nostalgia Speed & Cycle. When I saw the shop when we arrived, Hot Rod Shop was the first thing that came to mind however this was no ordinary Hot Rod Shop. CB after CB after CB, the number of Honda CB’s was crazy… and the number of Ford Model A reproduction steel bodies and parts were incredible, plus the completely filled shop and machine shop display was awesome. It’s a brand new shop so the next time you are in the area, be sure to stop in for a visit. It’s well worth it! It was another unexpected stop and visit but the owner was very happy to welcome us in and show us around. Thank you Carpy!
