Top Mountain Crosspoint Museum Destroyed by Fire

The museum sits at the base of the Timmelsjoch mountain pass road (on the Passo Del Rombo) in Austria, and sits as the EU’s highest altitude museum at 2175m. The road also connects South Tyrol and North Tyrol in Italy. The museum held one of the most extensive and valuable motorcycle collections in Austria and Europe, and was home to around 230 classic motorcycles – including classic models from Brough Superior, Vincent, Matchless, Sunbeam, Zündapp, and more, totalling around 100 manufacturers.

It was even associated with motorcycling royalty, as Giacomo ‘Ago’ Agostini was the godfather of the museum, plus it was home to other exhibitions of classic cars – we found an Aston Martin DB5 in one photo, a Ski history exhibit and a much-loved restaurant.

Top Mountain Crosspoint Museum lost to fire

Despite swift intervention from local fire brigades, it is feared that most (if not all) motorcycles have perished in the fire – the museum held all of the motorcycles in a 3000 square-meter exhibition area. Alban Scheiber, who co-owns the museum with his twin brother Attila, was once quoted in a Telegraph article:

A Start to a New Year and with New Parts

A New Year has begun, albeit in a lockdown- and many of us are trying to be as safe as we can if we have to go out anywhere, I mean, there are necessities they everybody needs and I am trying to keep on top of that as best I can, i.e. for me I need materials such as steel, welding supplies, nuts and bolts etc. But- With many shops closed for now, that’s not an easy task in itself.

So, for a while I guess we all have to be super careful in what we do? But once all this scary stuff is behind us, I am looking forward to meeting up with like minded people at shows and events etc. as the camaraderie will always be strong in our hobby.

New Year, let’s hope this one is a fruitful one

Well, 2020 can go and bugger right off, what a shitty year for everybody around the world, and we still have some ways to go before we can all meet up anywhere, so I tend to think I shall be here at home and will put my time and energy into making New parts available for you lot that are building at home right now.

I am so lucky that I find creating parts very therapeutic for me and will make the most of this lockdown scenario to see what I can accomplish and make available for you all in this 2021 year that we have just started on.

I am looking forward to seeing how your creations are going and hopefully you can send me some quality photos with a full description of what you have done, as many people ask about readers rides, so looking forward to some emails of your projects.

So I am wishing you ALL a very Happy New year and lets get building and see some very cool machines on the Tarmac for the Summer.
