Today we head off to the OG show once more, but today is open to the public and there will be way more motorcycles turning up, over 100 today to be shown in the rear part of the building, this is an awesome show with cool people. The buildings are amazing, the outer walls are literally plastered with great designs and people, come and check the special art area out as that has Motorcycles and a really cool live look static display that will make you laugh. Old and New meet in the middle here and we hope to meet you, Motorcycles are my life and love that there are so many people with the same interest, sure hope that you can take some time out and make this event.

My Metalflake Harlequin will be on a wooden platform with the other special invite Builders, come in and have a look at all these super cool machines, there will be many to look at, great music, and some awesome vendors, come out and enjoy the Easter weekend.

The Outliers Guild Motorcycle show in Los Angeles

Well this morning I loaded up the van and took the Harlequin Honda down the 5 Freeway to Los Angeles, fighting traffic all the way and then off at Seventh street, I passed a few Old style warehouses and new I was in the right area for this weekends OG show.

So, I pulled up on Anderson in the Industrial area and drove round the back where a friend of mine Donald Leonhardt was helping out and offered to give me a hand take the bike out, Cheers Don I was stoked to have help, as the 750 is no lightweight machine.

We eased the bike into the old Warehouse and there was a hive of activity, the smell of fresh paint and cut timber filled the air, along the concrete floor are a number of hand made wooden Pallet style platforms, for which the “Invited Builders” will be displaying their machines and I was lucky enough to be one of those builders.

So many cool machines had already turned up and the amount of attention to detail and engineering feats were mind boggling, Leonardo Devinci would of been right at home here, and to add to that, the building next door will be displaying cool art and design, as well as that, there were a few cool areas for Vendors. Such as Beringer Brakes, Deus, Tobbaco Motowear Co, Stellar Mo brand and many many more.

The building is a superb venue and you can look at the bikes that are on the Wooden platforms, check out the vendors upstairs etc and then walk out the building into the alley at the rear to see more Vendors, more motorcycles and yest another building where the Art show will be, so a great Horseshoe shaped event thats super easy to navigate.

Many bikes will be there, close to 100 I should think, so if you have a chance, get down to the show this weekend, it will be a fun place to be for sure. I am looking forward to see what all is on display, love seeing other bikes that have been created.

The OG Moto Show is an annual motorcycle event located in Downtown Los Angeles featuring select Cafe’ Racer, Bobber, Classic, Tracker, Scrambler, Old School Chopper, Modern Classic, Brat and full custom motorcycles on display in a unique setting. The vision of Jay LaRossa of Lossa Engineering, Stan Chen, John Pangilinan, and Ralph Holguin of RMD Garage to help bring this style of motorcycle culture to Southern California.

The event gathers thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts together in a unique setting. The experience will feature art, photography, music and more. Coffee, drinks, and food will be served throughout the day. Select vendors were on hand offering goods for purchase and the highlight of the event will centered on the custom motorcycles on display.

Here’s something for the curvy crowd: it’s a Harley Davidson and Bugatti fusion machine, mixing the best of American motorcycle engineering with a European design aesthetic from a bygone era. It’s as art deco as the Empire State Building and as curvaceous and sexy as Ingrid Bergman. It goes by the name of Jakusa Atlantico and it’s one of the few ‘fat and round’ looking motorcycle concepts that we’ve taken a shine to. Sure, it’s a theme bike but don’t let that get in the way of a good idea!

What we have here is a fantastic combination of the Harley Davidson Fat Boy and the ultra-rare and incredibly voluptuous 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. This particular concept by Tamus Jakus, is the perfect example of using retro lines and curves and a fair amount of simple streamlining to produce a beautiful motorcycle with a slightly modern twist.

Tamus Jakus is no stranger to designing gorgeous concept bikes; his portfolio boasts some of the most elegant and well thought out car and motorcycle concepts of the era. The Hungarian artist, illustrator and designer has a knack for mixing classic styling elements with modern machinery, to create some insane concepts. I love the Boneville design that you see Below, very stylish.

Now, if you look below, you will see just a few of the designs that the Hungarian Designer has managed to knock out of the park, his style and color palette is so amazing, I wish I could do something like this, what a great foresight to be able to create things of beauty.

All amazingly designed that I could be happy with owning any one of those on the board, all the lines flow like a River and so glad to be able to show these works of art today.

Be it modern or a Classic style, Tamus Jakus just knocks these designs right out of the Ball Park, there is something there for you I am certain of.

Above is a concept machine that was drafted from an art object and has conformed to the motorcycle perfectly, only a true artist can pull something off like this.

I am sure there will be many more great designs and I shall be looking out for these from now on, I was always trying to think of what Hungry offers to the world and now I know a Gold Medal Winner when I see one.

What I like about all his renderings are that the actual finished product is exactly as the drawing, he makes it look so bloody easy.

He designed this as a DGR ride machine and the concept seemed to work quite well, the bike is complete and does a few rounds on the road and is in a shop on display.

Look at this Tasty Ducati, a stealthy look but something I wouldnt minding slinging my leg over and taking it for a long ride, like to Las Vegas, it looks pretty comfortable.

Something for all you Street Fighter fans, the finished Product looks pretty tough to me.

This Machine looks like the Clubman Racers of the day when I was a teenager, he sure captured the styling using this XSR700 TD3 Model.

These looks like the early JPS Nortons on Steroids, a Tough and menacing stance, what a great job to pull off on this Motorcycle.

I sure hope we get to see some of the finished Models on the road or on the show circuit as being as unique as this, makes for you to physically inspect the whole machine when you clap eyes on it.

Look at this Ducati, I mean it looks as tough as a doorman on New years eve dont it?

Bobber looks pretty cool, not my cup of Tea but can see the bike has motion and smooth lines.

I wonder How many heads will turn if they saw this machine cruising down the street, a smooth concept and looks pretty tight.

Frigging mad machine in the Gulf Livery for sure. May be a wee bit hard around the Hairpins but again I would love to have a go on it.

I think Burt Monroe would do a double take on this Indian, how I would love to try this on the Lake bed at Bonneville to see what it can really do. Love the Shot Gun Mufflers.

New and old Concept works very well, reminds me of the JPS livery and the old Caff bikes of the XS650 era back home in the UK, a great job here capturing the Desmo styling.

I love the work he does with the Triumphs, the fairings are shorter on here and that is reminiscent of the 70’s styled 3/4 Fairings that you used to be able to purchase in many other speed shops of the day, kind of a Phil Reed style.

The good old DOHC looks great in this guise, what a tough style and form, well done mate as this is a Killer Cafe styled motorbike I see right here, we need more of these.

The good Old SR Motorcycle has been seen in many guises for many years but I never tire of it and have always loved the GT40 Gulf Livery and one day I shall create my own version, I loved this little Bar hopper bike.

Looks a lot better I think with the fairing as then it flows from the front to the rear cowl, unusual right side only Rotor set up too.

This is a Duck on a frozen pond but it looks at home and I would dearly love to ring its neck out around this area, great concept machine.

International Motorcycle Show Long Beach Nov 2017

Well, it was that time of year and we were all ready to head to the show, I started my Thruxton up, it purred away as it usually does, rode it onto the kerbside and let it warm up whilst I struggled with my Jacket and gloves etc, Sunday morning, all seemed well, Air pressures were checked, chain tension, Oil Level, Fuel level, Brake fluids, Lights function, Horn, signals and lights.

Looking forward to riding to Long Beach with my Girlfriend Jennifer today and her bike was now ready to fire up, but I heard just for a split second, my Thruxton Hiccup and drop the revs a tad.

I turned and looked at my machine and there was Fuel pissing out faster than a Rhino with a Full Bladder. FFS !

Thinking quick I hot kill switch and that shuts the fuel pump off, the motor was warm but not hot but, it sure was steaming from the fuel pouring over the whole motor, so glad it didnt reach the coils.

I put bike away and could see it was a fuel line issue, so had to admit defeat today and jump in the Car and head to Long Beach, that was a bummer as the weather was perfect for a ride.

But, we made it to the show, seemed a lot smaller than the old shows as it used to be held in both buildings, but none the less a great show as usual.

Met James O’Donnell, Scott the Baker from our 59 club and then 2 minutes later Dave and his side kick from the San Diego chapter of the 59 club, so that was quite a coincidence in the first minute of walking in the place.

The show was buzzing and we saw this woman explaining how easy it is to pick up your motorcycle if you are unlucky enough to drop it, Jenn was all up for it, so videoe’d her having a go, so stoked she gave that a try, as it is a very useful tip if you find yourself in that predicament.

I had noticed some cool machines, I only had my Iphone on me but thought I would take some snaps, as people ask me to Blog and show them whats about, so here it is.

What is not to like about this Vintage Indian, I would be on this and taking around the flat track, leave it in a Tall second gear and start to wear that steel shoe out big time, loved this.

I wish they had fired the Norton up as the straight through Megaphone would be louder than the local Fire Station Alarm, what a wicked Machine.

I saw a lot of Gilera’s back home as a kid, seemed to be tons of them in my area in the 70’s but I bet they are all dried up now?

Vintage Hill Climber would still be fun today, short exhaust pipes would be a Hot and loud ride for sure.

Do not often see these Beemers about and to have one in original condition was epic to see, back home the rain and snow would of eroded this German masterpiece to just a rusting frame over the years.

I still see a few of these around but not so much the Race bikes, except for the 250RR Harley I had in my shop, that was killer too.

Royal Enfields Answer to the BSA, these were and still are a thumping big fun bike I always love the sound of when its on the pipe.

One of our friends wives has one of these and this is a pretty good example of the 175cc, many in the UK when I was a kid.

I would take any one of these out for a Blap, such great memories come flooding back with these Motorcycles.

Tiger Tiger Burning bright, so stoked to see this piece of Mechanical fun.

What I would have done to be able to sling my leg over this as a teenager in England, boy would I of had a Blast on this.

Every ones a winner, right down to the Chrome moly frame, HUBBA HUBBA.

The old Husky 360 Automatic was a popular bike when I was at school.

I remember the first time I rode one of these, the Power band was tremendous, I ripped past my Brother in the Kings Forrest one day, leaving about a 4 inch deep trench all the way up the trail.

Plenty to see and at least one bike here would have a certain connection in your life I am sure.

I think this must of been George Jetson’s inspiration

Could never afford these Ducks back then and still cant today but what awesome machines and these really had a unique sound.

Vincent of anything is cool, this Rapide is begging to be ridden, I have never had the opportunity to even sit on one, let alone ride one but maybe one day, so nice to see.

Another Machine you dont see enough of, Velocette’s were a common machine 40 years ago where I lived, seems the internet has changed all that, never really see them at all anymore.

Baby Duck would probably still cook my Goose.

Above, well you could get an air brushed tattoo to pass the time, this area was pretty cool, even had a Barber and an open workshop.

Old and New seem to work quite well.

The Indian seemed More menacing from this angle.

One of Motone’s Triumphs.

Motone had 2 bikes this year and engraving was pretty intricate.

So much work in the side car.

Maybe next year they will fill the old Round building with Vendors like they used to as it was lacking vendors to be honest and more show bikes too.

So all in all not too bad but done it all in 2 hours, so hope it gets bigger again as this was lacking in something but lets see what next years event brings.

Ducati 1985 Seven Fifty F1

The Ducati 750 F1 is remembered by the marque faithful as the last of the original Ducatis, it would be the last Superbike developed and built by Ducati before the Cagiva takeover in late-1985

Controversially, Cagiva had intended to rebadge Ducati motorcycles with their own branding, however this would likely have led to an armed insurrection across the Italian peninsula, ending in public hangings à la Mussolini.

Wisely the Cagiva board of directors elected to keep the Ducati name alive.

THE DUCATI 750 F1

The Ducati 750 F1 was first offered to the public in 1985, and was sold until 1988. It was based on the hugely successful Ducati 600 TT2, a race bike that had won the 1981 Formula 2 World Championship, as well as the 1982, 1983, and 1984 Championships.

In ’82 Ducati decided to build the 750cc version of their world-beating 600 TT2 for Formula 1 competition. The 750 F1 was never as successful as its slightly smaller engined stablemate, but its DNA was unparalleled and before long the public were clamoring for a street-legal version they could buy from their local dealership.

New Ducati V4 Unveiled

With speculation rife that everyone from Harley-Davidson to Triumph to various Indian two wheeled giants, are lining up to buy Ducatifrom the beleaguered post-Dieselgate Volkswagen Group – we shouldn’t forget that the really important news is the imminent arrival of their new V4 superbike.

Driven by the firm’s desire to recapture their World Superbike domination, and in support of their recent renewed focus and resurgent success in MotoGP, the new V4 will be a road bike evolved from the track – rather than a road bike turned racer.

The firm’s Panigale has been a rampant success in showrooms, and no slouch on the track in the hands of Shane Byrne and Chaz Davies, but the race department needs access to more than the current 1198cc V-twin Panigale R can muster. With that bike already developing an impressive 193bhp in road trim – and a claimed 215-plus bhp race-ready – the firm has to be chasing a tangible step-up, which can’t come from weight loss, so has to come from power and control.

The likelihood is that we’ll see more like 205-210bhp in road trim, but over 230bhp for race teams. With the Panigale R’s enormous 112mm pistons slapping away at 11,750rpm (116mm in the stocker, redlining at 10,500rpm), the Superquadro is already at its outer limits for bore and rev ceiling harmony. More revs mean more power, and that’s far more achievable with multi-cylinder engines – but an inline four is too ordinary for Ducati, hence the move to a V4.

One version, or two?

All the indications suggest that we’ll get two engine versions across a three-bike range. The current R is 1198cc, while the base and S models are 1285cc – and we expect Ducati to continue this tried and tested route. What is beyond any doubt is that there will have to be a 1000cc version in order to comply with racing regulations for four cylinder bikes, and that those same regulations will force the release of a road-going homologation version.

Further still, this means that the new R model will have to cost less than 40,000 Euros (circa £35,500) to comply with World Superbike rulings. The race teams may force another significant point of difference, too. While all three test mules spied so far have featured the single-sided swingarm we’ve come to expect on Ducati’s flagship (ever since the massive 1098 climb-down in a post-999 world)– there’s a chance the R will boast a twin-spar item.

Why? Race teams want it; the V4’s power will be considerably increased over the Panigale which is harder to tame with a single-sided swingarm; and both the MotoGP bike and the original Desmosedici road bike also had conventional swingarms. The fact that we’ve seen two different test mules, each with different exhausts and shock positions, suggests this is very likely to happen.

Race teams want more torsional control and tuning flexibility, and the weight of a single-sided swingarm that’s beefy enough to cope with 225+bhp could well give them some sleepless nights. In contrast, road bike buyers want the single-sided look that has come to define Ducati’s flagship superbike. Add this to the move back towards a more substantial frame knitting the engine to the headstock, and the new bike looks set to mark a return to more conventional control.

Chicken or egg?

The base road bike and the S model are expected to be unveiled at the Milan show this Autumn, while the R model homologation special could be as much as a year later. Ducati’s WSB racing boss Paolo Ciabatti confirmed: “We will race with the Panigale in 2017 and 2018,” while Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali confirmed that theV4 “would absolutely race in WSB”

Glemseck 101

Our definition of the Glemseck 101 after eleven successful rounds:

The Glemseck 101 is a European »motorcycle happening« taking place in Germany with tens of thousands of visitors, guests and participants who represent the full range of the motorcycle scene and who live the »Spirit of the 101« for three entire days.

In Round 12, for three days and two hot nights, we will again revive this special »Spirit of the 101« for with loud, powerful sounds and full throttle. 2017, you will again find a grand stand at our legendary 1/8 mile and for the individual 101-sprints we are realizing new ideas – with exciting and spectacular bikes from throughout Europe plus their brands and designers. The Glemseck 101 in its 12th round will once again be »THE European Bike Festival« and »the place to be« – a happening of the wildest and best bikes, personalities and brands throughout the bike scene.

Make your own mind up, but looks like fun.

We need to have a 3 day weekend like this, on some private land where you can tun 1/8th mile and have some fun sprint racing.

Bung a few hay bales up and some speakers to let the public know who is racing what machine and where they have traveled from etc, would be a great idea.

looks like they have it every year and the meet gets bigger and bigger, one of these days I hope to travel to this as I get invites from time to time.

Just the sound of different engines revving and then taking off, whipping through the gearbox would be a cool thing to see and hear.

There could be all sorts of classes to make it fun and give you the opportunity to wring the neck out on your ride against somebody like minded.

Have a look and see what you lot think, looks like a win win to me.

I think if we ran something like this in Oct/November would be perfect as it will be overcast and not too hot.

I shall be doing a little investigating on what it would take to organize a meet such as this as I truly believe there would be plenty of interest in such an event for motorcycles.

The Marconi’s are personal friends of ours. Pretty much like Family to me and This Sunday, August 6th, we shall be taking a ride out to this Automotive Aladdin’s cave of machinery.

Their annual open house is always impressive, John Marconi will be giving tours as well and he is super guy, Raced Ferrari’s, test driver and knows his away four and 2 wheels, having had a CB400 Cafe back in the day, so only Natural we should go and check this great place out, its indoors so out of the Sun too, another good event for our Hot August in Southern California.

Founder Dick Marconi will be at the museum telling his personal stories about the cars and signing Ferrari posters for guests, which can be bought onsite. Car clubs from all over Southern California park out front of the museum and guests enjoy music, giveaways, raffles and food trucks.

This is the Year of the Monkey but also I think, the Year of the Cafe Racer.
