CB500 Honda by Duke Motorcycles

When tackling a custom build, there are a wide variety of approaches available to the craftsman. From extravagant to austere, there is no right way to create art. In the case of the Duke Motorcycles Honda CB500 Four Café Racer, Frenchman Lionel Duke chose to keep it clean, building a chassis around a classic 1970s inline-4 powerplant.

Although the powerplant is easily recognizable as an air-cooled four-cylinder Honda, most people would expect the more iconic CB400 or CB750 Fours in a café racer. Instead, Duke went with the less-heralded middle child. That, of course, is hardly the point of the build, and the motor was kept relatively stock. Instead, the Duke Motorcycles Honda CB500 Four Café Racer is all about minimalism and a striking chassis.

To give the build undisputed café racer credibility, the Duke CB500 gets thoroughly modern suspension. Despite being painted white, that is an inverted Öhlins fork, a Ducati Panigale single-sided swingarm, and an Öhlins piggyback-reservoir shock. Matching the suspension is high-performance Brembo braking, while Bonamici Racing provided footrests from Central Italy. Retromod, indeed.

Above the chassis is an aluminum tank/seat/tail unit. “It was realized by hand,” Duke says. “I wanted to keep the proportion of the tank and form of the original so that one recognizes the CB500.” The tank also houses a retro-modern Motogadget MST Speedster analog/digital speedometer.

The tank is adorned with a #7, as is the headlight and the aluminum front fender. “I engraved the front with a 7 to recall the decoration of the tank,” Duke explains, “the 7 being the symbolic figure that represents the purity. It seemed to me that was connected to the bike.”

Furthering the purity theme, the motorcycle is overwhelmingly white. “The color white, pure white, it’s something that I wanted to do for a long time,” Duke reveals, “a completely white motorcycle with decoration that I made in 18-carat gold leaf.”

For the rear bodywork, I wanted it to be very short to free the rear wheel and give it a racing side.” The seat is covered in Alcantara, which has a microfiber pile that recalls suede. Nice-based NMB Design was responsible for building the seat.

Throughout the motorcycle are decorative and functional cables. “Stainless steel cables through the length of the bike give it a luxury side,” Duke says, “and a finesse to this preparation.”

Four Keihin carburetors are retained to feed the Honda motor, with the velocity stack intakes made in the Mediterranean coastal town of Toulon by USVRacing. The engine was fully restored by Duke Motorcycles for optimum performance and reliability, with the unique touch of a CNC Racing hydraulic clutch from Arezzo, Italy.

While the exhaust retains the four-into-four architecture, there is a substantial twist. Unmuffled, two pipes exit under the seat and another short pair peak out on the right side—both a nod to modern MotoGP designs and made from stainless steel. Speaking of MotoGP, the Duke CB500 sports Michelin Power Slick Evo racing tires.

The Duke Motorcycles Honda CB500 Four Café Racer is a long-time coming in more ways than one. Getting his start customizing a Honda Dax (CT70/Trail 70 in the US), Duke has built dozens of custom motorcycles in preparation for this outstanding result.

Working alone in his Tourrettes-sur-Loup shop 17 miles east of Nice, Duke has spent 700 hours on this motorcycle. “It is a personal project that I wanted deliberately different from what we can see,” he says, “a project that looks like me and that highlights my style and all the methods of work that I use.”

“I have been passionate about motorcycles since the youngest age,” Duke says, “but especially of design and manual construction. I studied mechanics, bodywork, and painting, which really helps me in my work. I’m crazy about music, and design in general. I have a passion for watches, architecture, and supercars.”

Often, builders have twinges of regrets and second-guessing when they are done with their builds. That’s not the case with Duke and his CB500 Four Café Racer. “There is not really a thing that I would change,” he asserts. “It is really as I wanted it, and when I finish a bike, I think about the next one and do not think to modify what is already done. I tried to bring the French touch and maximum finesse of work to create this bike.” An indicator of that French touch is a French flag embedded in the tank, under a screen between two stainless steel cables.

One reason Duke is satisfied with the CB500 Four Café Racer is that he built it for himself, rather than a customer. “With a client, it is a little different,” Duke explains. “I advise him, and I listen to what he wants. When I make a bike for me, I take the opportunity to do new things, show what I am able to do. With a client, we create a thing for two. The difficulty is that clients do not often project themselves. They often want copies seen on the Internet.”

Undoubtedly, the Duke Motorcycles Honda CB500 Four Café Racer meets Lionel Duke’s standards for individuality. Likely, though, this striking white motorcycle will have clients of other builders pointing to it for inspiration.

Located between Cannes and Monaco, Duke cane supply you with parts to create something of your taste or a complete build for you to ride home on.

Finally I am ready to take the Vesco Honda to the OG show in LA

Been hard work getting this bike to the stage it s now in, but- All that hard work is well worth it as I am really happy with the look of the machine right now.

A lot of hard work and time has gone into this machine and I wasnt sure if I would makew the deadline of four weeks as we had 3 weeks of rain, but somehow I managed and I got it on solid ground for the first time last night, so stoked about it.

I will leave this at the OG show until Saturday evening but its a great show and look forward to seeing some of you there in LA.

Thanks for all the cool support and emails encouraging me to get it done, couldn’t of done it without your motivational words.

What a crazy month, but some how I managed to pull a few tricks out of the hat and get this ready for the OG show.

New Stainless Steel Exhaust for the Vesco Honda Creation

Well, the Rains are here again tomorrow, so had to tear into many projects to try and get ahead of the storm, as it will restrict me to many things I need to do to create this Custom Motorcycle, the Exhaust I originally tried out was pretty Bad Arse- But I wanted something really trick, so for a few days I sketched a couple of Idea’s and came up with my Latest design.

This is my latest system and I have called it the “Y-Block” And this system breathes like a man with Three Lungs.  Seriously, this is a great bit of Kit and hand made from 049 Stainless and not only does it perform, it is light weight yet sturdy. This is so much better in Stainless and wanted to show the Globe that cool stuff does indeed come out of sheds and Garages.

A lot of time and effort went into this system and I am happy at the end result, this will look great on the Vesco Honda and am sure many will ask about all the details that the bike has on it, there is so much to do and have to do all I can in the short amount of time to get this machine back up and running- no easy task and still quite a way away from completing this build.

The system will fit ALL of the 750 Motorcycles from 1969-1978 in the SOHC Range and will fit the CB750K, CB750F and CB750A models too, the design took some time to create how I drew it but it is bang on and I cannot be more happier than how the “Y-Block” free flowing System has turned out.

All quick release springs, this is a slip on system just like the old race bikes and wanted to give a little more Hot Rod look to this set up and I feel that I have accomplished that style and look. This has a Nickel Plated Removable Baffle and sounds just like a deeper version of the Yoshimura style system.

The fit and finish is superb and great ground clearance too, wasn’t sure if this was even possible a few weeks ago but after many drawings of concepts etc this is the end result and it looks so good, I am super happy that I went this way and it sure does look Custom. Sat on the workbench and rwady for it to be fitted to the Custom machine when I get it up to assembly.

This is my design and its a 4 into 2 into 1 set up that really lets the gases flow hard and escapes at the end through a baffle at a faster pace than many out there, and I really wanted a trick looking set up that not only looks and sounds great, but performs pretty well too, and this sure does meet the bill.

Of course I will offer this as a line for the HONDA CB750, CB550 and CB500 a little later on but first i want to see how it performs on the bike and will give a full run down when I have all that completed, but this New System really is a unique set up that I will be happy to offer to all of you soon for your inline Four Motorcycles.

I will weigh it later as its so much lighter than the steel versions and when it is in its brushed Stainless guise, its a real head turner with the welds turning that nice Bronze color.

A fun looking Exhaust that I am proud to put my name on and I am sure will get quite a lot of interest for other peoples rides, so today turned out a great way to bring the week to en end.

This will be easy to fit to your very own inline four, even if you are on your own as it weighs nothing and comes apart easily for assembly etc and the springs are way easier to remove than undoing bolts .

I wanted to have something different out there and to show that I also love Hot Rods too, it’s all a cool lifestyle that I have always been into and now have a great system for the inline Four Honda’s.

When the Vesco Brat bike is completed, I shall take a lot of photos of it, as well as some sound bytes of the exhaust system, I will still use the Yoshi style baffle as I love that tone.

So with that- I shall bid you a fond farewell and get back into the Garage, as I have a million more things to do and as the storm approaches, I need to get in there fast.  Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog, let me know your thoughts, as input is so important from My Customers.

New ceramic Bronze Exhaust systems now available

Well, I have now added this great Custom Burnt Bronze metallic ceramic Coating color to the 4 into 1 Exhaust systems we make, this is a superb Custom application that really enhances the look of your two wheeled machine and wanted to show you how great this looks.

Its almost a Metallic look and I love the way it looks and this is a New look for Exhaust systems and wanted to offer this color on the systems we manufacture here in California.

We ship Globally and this is a 2 piece set up so easier to fit and cheaper to ship as well.

I am glad to offer this Color to you and you simply go to the exhaust page and chose the Ceramic Color you would like, be it Burnt Bronze, Black or Silver, as well as Raw Steel or a show version of Stainless Steel.

These also come with a Chromed removable Baffle and what is good about my systems is that if you wanted to, you could cut the tail pipe down to the length you lie and the baffle will still fit.

So if you are looking for a Custom Exhaust for your inline four from 1969-1978 SOHC Honda or even the DOHC version, we make them here and offer them to you in different finishes.

Our systems flow and Perform, over 1500 systems sold around the globe and over 18 years in business, love doing this and we get great feedback and many repeat customers too.

Thanks for looking, I love this Color and look forward to seeing it on other Customers machines, let me know if I can help.

BMW R9T Redesigned onto a tough looking Scrambler by 2 Loud in Taiwan

Morning’ Here at Carpy’s Garage I often sit and look at other superb designs by other shops and people etc and spread the word on such builds, and this Scrambler below is exactly what I mean when people think way out of the proverbial box, such a great job in re-creating something that was great on the road, but this is a new level of Motorcycle design and building that has become so popular, had to write up about this BMW, as it has many hours of thought, sweat, tears and am sure scraped knuckles in bringing this old Heavyweight back into the ring.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-23-1600x1067

So, when you think of the good old Beemer, there are a few things that pop int your mind, first off, I think, Expensive, then I think of Comfort, after that I think of Smooth riding, then its weight and of course, its just for the Tarmac.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-33-740x463

But check out the ultra cool work that the Company 2 Loud, which are based in far off New Taipei, where the heck is that I hear some of you ask?

New Taipei is a special municipality and the most populous city in Taiwan. Located in northern Taiwan, the city includes a substantial stretch of the island’s northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei …

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-35-740x483

Germany are one of the best engineering countries when it comes to reliable Motorcycle engines, The BMW R nineT was developed by the German marque as a modern version of the now iconic R90, with heaps of Torque and smooth linear power transfer, this BMW machine  was intended to shrug off the enduring image of BMW bikes as staid and utilitarian.

2 Loud is a rather well known Motorcycle and apparel company based out in Taiwan and has created some uniqe machines over the years, so the owner Max Ma always enjoys a challenge in creating something that will stand out amongst the now popular Scrambler and Brat style machines that now seem to pop up in every corner of this world.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-34-740x453

Max was heavily influenced by their Japanese counter parts, as they are closer to Taiwan than the UK and his passion for their machines grew over the years, gaining experience with these bikes by owning and rebuilding them.

Max and his Crew are known for their attention to detail on anything that they fabricate and this is testament to all their creations with this BMW.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-32-740x469

Taiwanese traffic regulations are notoriously pedantic, so max often finds himself trying to balance visual appeal and practicality with the fine letter of the law, of which is very hard to pull off, so glad that here in California that we do not have all the BS that the traffic division have enforced over there in Taiwan, and Max had to pull all the tricks he knew to make this Custom creation look amazing, yet keep old Mr Plod off of them constantly sending fines in the mail for their non conforming Motorcycle.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-31-740x468

The 1200cc Engine needs nothing in regards to a total rebuild, these horizontally opposed twin cylinder behemoths are lavishly equipped with a 6 speed gearbox, Dry clutch and super soft suspension, so it just needs a reconfiguration of other modern parts from different machines to turn this build into what it is you see now and boy what a superb build.

Also, with a 110bhp, this alloy Mill does not hang about and, with a top speed of 135 mph, its not to be taken to lightly in the power and speed division, unless you have owned one of these German power plants, it is hard to believe that these will produce this sort of speed and power, but, they are really a sheep in wolfs clothing.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-30-740x473

When the build began, the first thing to go on Ebay was the stock bulky Gas tank, I mean, that thing could hold more gas than a Proffesional farter, so what was done after that tank was removed was a new one off was beaten out of a piece of flat steel, then an Alloy cover was fabricated and laid over it, making the tank more streamlined and showing off the lines of the chassis that the Germans are so good at engineering.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-13-740x1010

Max liked the original wheel, so these were simply stripped and powder coated then they wrapped the rims with chunky Pirelli MT60RS tires front and back and the old suspension was completly changed for a high quality set up made by Gears Racing H2P with two-way damping adjustment, an active valve piston, and spring pre-load adjustment.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-24-740x1110

The mill its self was gone through and although minimal wear, anything that needed to be replaced was done right there, then using a special High temperature paint, the engine was given the Stealthy look with a deep Black finish and this really does set off the engine in the frame.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-20-740x453

A stainless steel exhaust system was begging to be fabricated for this monster and right there, Max and his team designed and created this really nice Brushed Stainless system with bigger header tubes that flow so nicely into a set of hand rolled Megaphones, this gives the Beemer its distinctive Bark, a tone that is never often equaled to any high end system these days.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-17-740x494

I personally loved the unique hand fabbed Megaphone hangers, to me they remind me of Aerospace design and a great way to hang these beauties on the bike to show off.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-27-740x480

A New ARCH Finned Oil cooler was added to keep this running 15 Percent cooler and give it some more styling to boot, as well as adding Brand New K&N High Performance and deep breathing filters to make sure these keep that engine running smoothly and of course efficiently.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-29-740x452

The original brake, indicator, and headlight were removed and replace with much lower profile alloy indicators with a MS Pro aluminum alloy CNC-cut tail light, and a 4.5” headlight finished with chrome embellishment, the Upside down forks are a tough addition with a wide stance and aggressive stance and the great thing about the whole concept of this motorcycle is durability.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-2-740x489

The Hand made rear sub-frame was handled in house and suits the new hand fabricated seat thats lavishly upholstered in Leather.

Take a look at these lines, they all flow and the bike has taken on a completely different guise, so much in fact, you would have to do a double take to make sure this is a BMW, of course the opposed Jugs protruding out like a baby bird sticking its neck out of an egg is a quick indication what motor this is but what a great piece of eye candy.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-15-740x442

What I really like about this Master Piece is that the bike is a universal machine, meaning that this can haul as much Arse as it wants on the tarmac but also this bike is more than happy to go onto other terrain, soaking up bumps and rocks like it was Born on an enduro track.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-1-740x482

So I guess in a way a Custom Dual Sport for the want of a better word., and me being in the 59 Club would love to take this to a meet and see what the club members think, as I am sure it would be a thumbs up all around.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-18-740x488

Many people have owned these machines and this has been quite largely customized all over the world, but- This I personally think is the best conversion I have seen of this big 1200cc monster machine and sure hope I get to see it one day.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-5-740x432

There is not many that would even tackle a New gas tank made from scratch and I am glad that the subtle white pinstripes that run around the New Gas tank is very reminiscent of the original Toaster style tanks of the day, showing a little-Albeit Subtly, the Heritage of BMW. Another thing that of course you cannot notice is, under that hand crafted Gas tank is some major components that are needed to make sure this Motorcycle lives and breathes, So, max incorporated very cleverly, the 2 Computer boxes, also the ABS unit needed to be rehoused, and the Gas Pump too is no easy task to re-fit and of course the mechanical cables had to be re-routed and hidden, a tremendous task that Max and his team managed to pull off and you would never know.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-16-740x461

Hand made Handlebars have the reminiscent styling of the good old Scrambler days, thus hiding the control wires and cables inside for a cleaner look and using high quality Brembo Master Cylinders really gives this a bike to be ridden hard but knowing this will stop in a safe controlled manner. The handlebar height is perfect for the right stance to make this a comfortable ride, unkike many back breaking styles that I have ridden, these look like they would be able to keep me riding comfortably for many hours.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-8-740x457

So, all in all a very unique Motorcycle that deserves one of my Longest Blogs in a little while, and being Sunday, it was a pleasure to type out in the comfort of home, living in La Mirada we are blessed with riding weather and think today we shall make the most of it and take our Triumphs out to stretch their necks out, but how much fun would it be to take this unique Scrambler out and get it through its paces on the winding roads and dirt tracks that are splattered all over Southern California.

bmw-r-nine-t-motorcycle-custom-9-740x463

Have a great Sunday and hope you can ride some time today or during the week, Motorcycles are my life and love to share anything I see or locate and hope that you enjoyed reading about this Big BMW Scrambler, it sure was a great time putting this together on my Sunday off.

Italian Thoroughbred Thruxton R is pure Class.

Caff bikes terminology has not changed, back in the day, these words seemed to be only understandable to the sub- Culture that lived and breathed these British Factory bikes that were stripped down, parts either sold off or re-fabricated to enhance the Motorcycles speed, Handling and of course performance, but as well as looks, your machine needed to stand out, to really stamp an exclamation mark of Ton Upmanship. This has been my lifes interest and when I saw this machine, well, I just had to Blog about it.

thruxton-r-caferacer-10

But, now in 2017, we have come a long way, a few years ago it was still a sub culture in the Caff World but, with people creating unique looking machines, the media on the two wheeled industry could not but notice this newer trend of creating your very own Rocket and the proof of that pudding is when Meridian turned out the Triumph Thruxton in 2004, it sure turned heads and the sub culture took a back step and now it has gone mainstream.

Nothing wrong with that, just look at the Brand New Triumph Thruxton R, I mean look at them, they have an old look, but- They have a strong, reliable engine that produces so much power to the ground its breath taking, the lines are so smooth and flowing that even Alberto Vargas could not equal that in any of his renderings.

New modern technology with front forks, full floating brakes and sturdy swing-arm, gives this bike a Classic look with futuristic handling.

So, when you clap your eyes upon a Thruxton -R, you think to yourself, “This is as far as you could go with a Caff Racer” I mean, what else could you do to make this machine any more appealing.

thruxton-r-caferacer-4

Well. over in the town of Massa in Italy, you will find Alo and his Motorcycle company, they have been creating Caff Racers for about 10 years now and when they were approached by the high end watch manufacturer Meccaniche Veloci to design and build a stylish Cafe Style Motorcycle using a Triumph Thruxton -R, well they were on board right away and began the transformation of a really eye catching Motorcycle, into a precision work of art that runs as smooth as one of the Clients Time Pieces.

thruxton-r-caferacer-9

Just take a look at the craftsmanship of this machine, the exhaust are of course Italian, from Zars but with a few modifications, take a look at the tail pipes to see that the ends of the silencers  features a unique 4 hole design that is reminiscent of the 4 faces of the companies Quattro Valvole watch. The headers flow so well and hug tight and high the the machine, being as one so to speak. Much fettling was applied to get this set up to look like it was from the factory and boy- Did these fellas pull that job off.

thruxton-r-caferacer-3

The Original Factory Plastics were removed, this machine needed to have some top quality Aluminum panels made, so to start, they decided they would hand form a front fairing but a full version reminiscent of the days back in the UK with a Phil Read style, that flowed like water from a tap. This was by no means an easy task, the lines are smooth but not straight, and to get them flowing curves, many hours of hand forming were spent in the workshop. Using just 3 pieces of Aluminum these were massaged into the work of art you see on this motorcycle, they also fabricated some side covers to keep everything in contrast with the front end.

thruxton-r-caferacer-6

The detail is so pleasing and reminiscent of the time pieces that Meccaniche Veloci manufacture, as even the leather material used for the Hand formed seat, used the same stitching as the time pieces have as the wrist strap, with the traditional racing stripe incorporated to show this is a fast machine. The Herringbone style stitching works very well and sets this apart from anything out there right now, all handcrafted at the workshop.

thruxton-r-caferacer-7

The finished example of Alo’s hard graft is so apparent, aptly named “the Bullet” This is on another level of machinery you may see of any Thruxton R right now and would love to see this at our 59 Club O.C. meet as it is such an eye catching Motorcycle and would love to hear them Zard pipes in action, as it would probably sound as deep and strong as Pavarotti himself.

thruxton-r-caferacer-5

So thats my Blog for today, a nice piece of Italian styling that will always attract attention, I hope you enjoyed Fridays Blog and I try to do as much as I possibly can to promote these machines and of course the lifestyle too.

thruxton-r-caferacer-12

Now I have to try and at least clean u my old 2013 900 and give it a go but man thats a nice machine Aldo has created.

Thruxton R Alo

Have fun with your machine today or over the weekend, looking at things like this always gets my creative juices flowing and I am now looking forward to wrenching on my own Thruxton.

Thruxton R alo1

If you are anywhere near Massa in Italy, pop in to see Aldo, they have a wicked workshop and you will enjoy their creations.

thruxton R alo3

Have a super weekend and let me know if I can help with any parts for your machines.

CB550 HONDA BROWN BOMBER BRAT BIKE

Sometimes I forget to take photos when I am working on something, then a little later on down the line, I end up kicking myself as somebody usually comes into my place or calls or even emails me and asks if I have built a Honda CB500 or CB550 Brat Bike.

4

I did take a few photos of this ride but not enough and to be honest it was a Bike I picked up locally not three miles from the house, a guy had had it for many years as he used to use it to go to college as a cheap means of transport.

2

10 years after he completed College, life in general took over and had no time for the little inline Four Honda and it sat at the way side of the house under a tarp and then a few years later it was put in the corner of the garage.

1

I bought it and even though the bike was a sad state of affairs, it would be a fun little project that I could have a little bit of artistic sculpturing on and see where it ends up.

5

I used one of my Special Stainless Steel 4 into 1 systems and boy did this thing Bark like a scolded dog, this really did turn heads and in a good way, such a perfect breathing motor.

25

The seat was made from 20 Gauge steel and then we welded about 5 inches of old rear fender to the seat base and I thought it would look cool if it were all upholstered.

13

Removed the forks, took apart and then machines some cool fins in the lower legs, then magnafluxed to make sure all was safe and it sure was, New upper tubes fitted and rebuilt.

12

The bike sat so well, and when you jumped on this bike, it would go as hard as you wanted it to go with out any question, it really breathed so well you would be so surprised when you opened the throttle, the little CB550 felt like a 750.

14

The wheels were all new and used stainless steel spokes and polished the hubs, then shod both of them with Coker Diamond treaded tires that fills the bike out very well indeed.

15

Should of kept this little Ripper as it would suprse any motorcycle at the traffic lights yet it was great on gas, the Carbs were set up on a Mercury stick and loved the gas I used.

18

Hand made 7/8 Brat/Tracker Bars of mine that I chromed, help steer this Bar Hopper in the right direction. used Metalflake grips and 2 inch Bar Risers.

19

One piece of steel and a rear fender shortened and welded to it, then covered in Foam and upholstered over, came out so well and stoked that I wet this route on the bike.

20

Old carbs rebuilt, Dipped and re-jetted and then synchronized to make sure it ran even and smooth under load and boy did it handle well, fitted new cables too.

21

Rebuilt the forks but machined these fins and then polished to a super high Luster you would think they were chromed and these last a long time until you need to polish once more.

24

New Fork top Rubber fitted and New Rims were laced to the Polished Hubs, not a show bike but New parts in the right places.

22

New Brake shoes and Polished hub with New shocks, sorts the rear end out and it handled so well too.

23

Old speed Boat headlight I used with a Toggle switch ontop to illuminate it, I think it suited this machine very well indeed.

25

A great bike that was super fun to create and ride, the guy that bought it was a New marine and rode it to Pendleton with no worries all the time, great testament to a cool machine.

26

Kota taking the Brat for a little run and loved it, Dakota Made the seat and he loved this mean machine.

27

Hope I see this bike again one day as its one of them that you wished you had kept, thanks for reading about this little Honda, it was a Giant Killing machine.

CB750 Creation ” The BRATSTER”

Over the years I have built a number of inline Four machines as you may well know, I have always liked these Motorcycles because I used them as a Courier Bike back in the UK, they were Affordable and reliable and lastly they were an awesome Platform to be able to adapt to how you wanted the machine to look.

1

Beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder, but with this bike when I first picked it up, it was in a bad way and needed help, but, trying to change something on a shoe string budget is some times almost impossible, so when I pushed this bike onto the Concrete and saw the potential, well I had to at least give a go eh.?

2

This old Girl was a 1974 CB750 and many many Moons ago it was Created to be a Land Speed Racer, I have a little or know information on if it ran, where it ran or what speeds, it was very poorly made and to be honest, too Bloody dangerous for me to sling my leg over and have a go up on the dry lakes for any record.

6

It had no title and was leaking oil and looking very sorry for itself when I parked this 500 pounder up, but once I had made a Brew, sat back and thought for a bit, I knew I could at least resurrect this CB750K Model in to some sort of head turner.

9

So, with pen and paper in hand I jotted down a few ideas and came up with the idea of building a fun little Brat style Bike that would have a Chunky look and feel but real fun to ride.

7

After a day of Mulling around , I decided that I would get the Motor running first and if that runs I will then go from there as this may take some time as it was not a commission for a build but a cry of help as I bought a few bikes off a buddy who needed space in his Garage, so this would be an on going bike and Not at all a show bike, just a tough Motorcycle that would probably suprise a few motorcycles at the lights as it buggered off into the sun set whilst you are watching it disappear into the distance..

8

The bike had a terrible set of gas tanks made from old alloy Cylinders that were Bolted to some old Nuts that were welded to the frame, there were parts hanging off that shouldn’t even be on there, so I decided that this would be a Brat style and I am going to change oil and plugs, add some coils and Battery and rebuild a set Carbs to see what we have hear, as there are no carburetors on this bike at all. So off I went in search of some carbs, and took an old blocked up set I had as spares apart, cleaned, re-jeted and fitted to the old Dry lakes Bike.

Below I have fitted Carbs and a exhaust to see how she runs and it is now tuned and am happy about the sound and crisp response that my 4 into 1 systems make.

My ears were ringing and actually Blew the Sub-woofer out in the workshop because the bass not was so strong, but a minor price to pay to now know this motor runs hard and true.

20e

So, as the rear end of the bike was missing, I thought I would massage one of my rear Hoops I make onto this frame and create a Brat style bike that will be so much fun to ride around on.

20h

An easy job and looks great, so I can later make a Flat seat with New Foam and Diamond stitching to give it that Brat look that is so popular right now over here.

10

The old 16 inch rim had a massive sprocket, I think 170 or 200 teeth, erm, not for the street for sure , else it would wheelie everywhere ha ha, so removed the rims and rebuilt a new set but Polished the Hubs from this bike and laced with stainless spokes.

19

Now that looks a lot better and now ready for the Rubber to go onto the outside, this time I thought I would spare no expense on the tires as they are an important part to make sure these keep you on the tarmac, so opted for a Set Of Cokers Tires and I am going to make a Diamond stitched seat later so wanted tires to match in a way.

20d

I also removed the forks, rebuilt and fitted New upper tubes, as well as Rebuild brake caliper and refurbishing the old rusty brake rotor too.

20a

A lot cleaner that it was when it first limped into my hands and am real happy at the way this is coming along, as I said, no show bike so not removing the motor and painting a frame, this will be a fun bike with a few new parts or refurbished ones at the very least.

112

Above, I repainted the Motor and detailed it with Stainless steel Allen bolts and I wanted wrinkle paint this time to help dissipate the heat when riding.

99

Getting there, Rebuilt Carbs, new boots and a cool Aluminum Airbox made this Motor breath and respond so well, its the devil in the detail or carboration that wins the race.

20ab

Now the job of fitting Headers and so many choices from the styles that I have created for these 500 pounder machines, but the bike is taking shape now and I really like the way it is going.

20aa

The Motor looks great, I also added a cool Oil tank with a Battery Box already inside it, so this will really look trick and can hide some of the electrical in it too and clean the frame up some more.

26

I wanted to use my Newest design exhaust system, the Side Winder, this breathes like a New Nose and wanted to also Hot Rod it out by wrapping the headers in Titanium Heat wrap, it sure came out well and this will look great perched in front of that inline four engine.

27

Now, that is a lot better and glad that I went this route, I have sold lots of this heat wrap and this is the first time that I have used it and as its Titanium it doesn’t fall apart like that cheap fiberglass stuff thats out there does.

28

On the Arse end of the header I wanted to fit my New Sidewinder tail pipe with the Yoshi style Baffle, and boy does it look great and super stoked that I did go in this direction.

24

Next up I need to make a seat pan to cover the Battery tray and oil tank up and will go simple with some 18 Gage steel and then will add foam and upholster in a Light Tan Naugahyde material with Diamond stitching.

25

Simplicity is the name of the game for this machine and I am now cutting the foam to fit the seat pan that I just made, this is almost there, maybe another half an inch of foam then upholster.

22

I am now happy with the thickness of the Foam and am looking forward to seeing this with a Light Tan seat ontop of the frame, I feel it will be a good contrast. so lets go and see.

53

Way better now, I also added a Blue frame to go with the old 1970’s painted gas tank i found and think its a good combination for this creation, it is a tough machine for sure.

49

The Brat sits well and with the Custom Oil tank that I now offer on the website, it runs well and uncluttered like man I see.

Added some NEW Handle Bar switches to make sure that all works well and stays like that, no faded grey crap like you see on so many on the internet these days.

37

My Custom made license plate frame with Hot Rod stop tail light assembly looks great and another thing I produce and sell on the website.

Tail light tells you when you need to stop too, neat eh?

81

This bike runs hard and strong and was so good to see it back up and running again, after years and years of neglect, if she had a face she would be smiling, that I am certain of.

52

The Bike also has my Own Handlebars that I designed and had mandrel bent and chromed, and gives that bike that Period look of the day, it sits well and rides so comfortably too.

59

A strong machine and this has already been sold to a customer and is now residing in Canada, my fruits of labor paid off and the new owner is super stoked to get this bike from me.

90

My Bulldog Bailey standing guard as I get some snaps, before it heads of to Maple Country.

82

Hope you liked this little resurrection? I sure had fun creating this Motorcycle and Glad somebody is enjoying it right now.

96

Added a Fog light for that European look and something the New owner is going to need up there in Canada, so just another cool touch to show this motorcycle Bratster off a little more.

A tough little Machine with plenty of swag, and I am sure that it will get many looks in the warmer months.

110

Big transformation and I did more work than I thought I would do and sold it way too cheaply but hey, its all fun at the end of the day and I enjoyed creating this bike.

Thanks for reading my Blog on building this machine , and many others I have created and still continue to.

DSC_0040

I fitted 2.5 Analog gauges and also made a Neutral light that is fitted into the steering stem nut, plus New master cylinder, New levers cables and Grips.

DSC_0020

Another thing I did was add my headlight ears that I sell on here as well as the cool headlight with the internal LED Turn Signals, as that cleans the front end up, I fitted my Fork Brace too to stiffen the frnt end as I removed the fender, many dont do this and have floppy forks.

DSC_0049

The heat Wrap I now sell on the website too, in Black or Tan, both look great and clean up your old headers to revamp them, 50 feet is enough for your headers and I used two inch wrap.

DSC_0042

Thanks again and another Build leaves my place and I am now looking at another creation, appreciate all the cool comments whilst i was building this, have a great week.

My Honda SOHC 4 into 1 exhausts

Hey Everyone

A few people email me asking for sound samples of the exhausts etc, sometimes I keep them on file but after a while I tend to lose the files somewhere in the vastness of Computer space and never get them back.

So today I shall add a few sound bytes that I have done over the years to try and help just a little as to what my Exhaust systems sound like on these inline Fours.
Been doing these over 17 years here now and am very proud of that fact, none of that china stuff many others use, and then say its theirs and made in USA, all made right here in Anaheim California.

OK-if you need more information, you can email me on carpy@carpyscaferacers.com or if you like, you can drop a text to me or a Dime for that matter at 714-598-8392 and I am more than willing to help you out if you need photos or info for the 4 into 1 system of mine. Also check out ALL the exhausts on the parts page too.
Enjoy.

That was a 1978 Super Sport and the next one up is an earlier model that you can sample on here.
Next up a K4 model.

Here is a K6-K6 Model with the Yoshimura style 4 into 1 system of mine on it.

Below a customers video.

Below is another exhaust system from me but this time its for a CB350 and CB400, now this has a Fully packed baffle, a little too muffled for my liking, but it is what the Customer wanted.

A little louder version and this bike had not run in years and was first start up too.

Another Raw steel one but this time on a CB400-4, this sounds pretty good for a bike that had not been fired up in many many years.

Another Customers video of my exhaust on his CB550 Honda.

This is a customer video, not sure if he has the baffle but still great to hear.

Here we have a CB750 that a Customer had made a video of, with my pipe, see what you think, sounds crisp eh?

Here is one of my Custom versions, the Razor and the Hot Rod as well as the Sidewinder.

Many moons ago I built the F-Bomb and it sure was too!
Hold your ears for this exhaust system I made.

Just a chin wag whilst on my Motorcycle.

Seeing as it is now Feb 1st, I thought that I would try and start a little more blogging as I go along, not sure how they will come out but may be entertaining for you.

Trying some different media’s here as everybody seems to use their phone to talk, take photos and now live chat at times, so- to try these things out I have used my I-phone but its not the best- as my gyroscope is out of wack so sometimes the camera will jump, soon to get a new phone though.

This was about a month ago, may not be the best clarity on you tube but something to watch, as I  fitted New megaphones to the Triumph Scrambler and she sure did sound throaty when I took it out for a little spin.

A great sounding bike now it breathes and I am contemplating purchasing a Scrambler for my own use as they are bags of fun to ride.
