I had toyed with the idea of fitting a Springer front end to my 2013 Thruxton but its lot of work and although i could do it, finding the bearings may of been a task that I really didn’t want to do by calling all the bearing and race manufacturers, so this guy really done his home work on the bike that he built from his shop named. ” Mean Machines”.   Images by Manny Tamayo

The front end Springer is now  five inches shorter and to be honest, looks better for it, and sports a 21 inch front rim, but also what pretty cool about this machine is the way they have set up the Faux mechanical brake system, putting the master cylinder under the Petrol tank, and still being hydralic but actuated by a cable, very trick eh?  Images by Manny Tamayo

Giving the modern Triumph Bonneville a board tracker vibe: Mean Machines shows the way.

The tank took some work to fit how he wanted to as he had to cut away the subframe but he managed to pull the job off by redesigning the frame a little and then calling Ikon and asking to have a set of custom length rear shocks to raise the arse a little and to be sure it sits very well indeed.  Images by Manny Tamayo

This bike actually gives the styling of the infamous Board Track Racers of Yester Year and even though this is a 2010 model, its hard to guess at first glance what era this is from. Just look at the work involved on this Stainless Steel exhaust system, not only is it tight and clean, they actually removed the float bowl off this efi system and brought the headers in even tighter and then added a cool starter switch assembly above the unit.  Images by Manny Tamayo

Just so much work and the candy Root Beer Brown is something I love as that’s the color of one of the bikes I created last year, love the whole concept to be honest.

Below you can see more detail work and this time going with a different headlight bucket and unit that was taking from a Prima Vera Vespa Scooter and then fitted a Motogadget Speedometer, complete with an integrated M lock key less ignition, that is hidden with the Battery under the seat, this is as far out as most people would even dream of.   Images by Manny Tamayo

Triumph’s updated 2016 lineup blends cutting-edge modern technology with the old world charm of its legendary motorcycles

Since its launch in 1959, there are few bikes that have influenced pop-culture and, more importantly, retro-style biking as much as Triumph’s Bonneville has. The current Bonnie, after its 2001 launch, had been left virtually untouched for fourteen years, a testimony to the British maker having hit the nail on the head in preserving this motorcycle icon’s heritage.

Come 2016 though, Triumph will bring in five new, thoroughly revamped Bonnevilles, all ready to roll out of the state-of-the-art Hinckley manufacturing plant we recently visited, some of which will hit Indian shores around the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. The new bikes are powered by a new range of substantially more potent engines, deploying either a 900cc or full-blown 1200cc capacity, in parallel-twin layouts, with liquid cooling and fuel-injection, and are expected to bring the Bonneville into the 21st century while keeping intact their timeless appeal.

Starting with the most affordable amongst the new crop of Bonnevilles, the Street Twin is expected to be the most popular offering from Triumph when it goes on sale here in India. One look at it and you know for a fact that the Street Twin can’t be anything other than a Bonneville. To be made available in four paint schemes, black, a matte black, red or silver, the Street Twin is easily distinguished by its black 10-spoke alloy rims, as well as the blacked out bits on the lower parts of the bike, including the handsomely detailed engine.

The Street Twin pumps out a throaty and a rather exciting exhaust not from its smoothly profiled, brush finished twin exhausts. Expected to be priced close to the current Bonneville, the Street Twin will come powered by a four-stroke, 900cc, parallel-twin powerplant, which churns out its peak torque of 8.16kgm at amazingly low engine speeds, making it very rideable in urban conditions, while also holding ample punch across its rev range.

The smooth-running engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission and Triumph claims that the new Street Twins offer a 36 percent bump-up in fuel-efficiency, this in tow despite the promise of more exhilarating performance. And if that wasn’t enough, the Street Twin won’t feel a budget Bonnie, Triumph walking the extra mile to load up this new motorcycle with goodies like ride-by-wire throttle management, a switchable traction control system, a slip assist clutch which feels relatively lighter, plus an ABS system to widen the braking safety net. The Street Twin comes with a single disc rotor in front. In terms of features, the Street Twin gives you a gear-indicator on the instruments bay, a USB socket and engine immobiliser to mention a few.

Next up, the Bonneville T 120 is a modern-day Bonneville on which attention to retro-style detailing has been placed above all else. The bike, riding on shiny wire-spoked wheels, looks exotic thanks to the chromed out engine cases and the bright and old-school peashooter exhausts. Its twin front disc brakes and the twin-pod instrument cluster make it simple to differentiate the T 120 from a Street Twin. Triumph has worked to improve the ergonomics on all the 2016 Bonnevilles, so expect riding comfort to have taken a step forward. But the real plus over the Street Twin here comes in the form of the big leap on the engine front; the T120 getting a torquey 1,200cc, parallel-twin powerplant that sounds gruff and grunty.

As on the Street Twin, the T 120 comes with a ride-by-wire throttle, and six-speed gearbox, supported by a slip-assisted clutch. In addition to switchable traction control and ABS brakes, there are also two riding modes, Road and Rain. The T 120 also offers the luxury of heated grips for comfortable riding on winter mornings, apart from a USB charging point. Cruise control is optional.

Expect the Bonnevilles to offer a comfortable, upright riding position, as against the the sportier Thruxton, up next.

Triumph has upped their game on the upgraded, and not to forget, the stunningly styled 2016 Thruxton and Thruxton R models, Both the bikes come generously equipped with really top drawer specifications and beautiful detailing, which can be seen in the finely crafted Monza-style fuel filler cap. And you simply can’t miss the bar end mirrors, a neat design touch on the Thruxton that few other bikes can carry off so well. Although held together by spokes, the 17-inch Thruxton wheel rims are alloy constructed, as is the swingarm. Extras on the upmarket Thruxton R include a colour matched seat cowl, buffed steering headstock and clear anodise swingarm. There’s that authentic café racer look you can’t miss, and besides the aggressive styling, Triumph has given the Thruxtons the added bite of a specially tuned 1,200cc, parallel-twin powerplant that delivers 11kgm of maximum torque, twisted out at a sportier 5,000rpm, and marking a massive 57 percent leap on the previous model.

The Thruxton R comes with all the bells and whistles, stainless steel exhausts without catalytic converters for added oomph, Ohlins fully adjustable suspension at rear and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa Tyres. And a set of floating twin disc brakes in front, clamped on by Brembo callipers. Besides the new bikes, also on offer is a mile long list of accessories and custom parts to match all the 2016 Bonneville bikes.

As for the bikes themselves, there’s virtually nothing that stays the same between these new Bonnevilles, and the pre-2016 bikes, save for the aplomb with which they have carried forward their legacy.

Insane Meat Slicer Turbo Visor from back in the day!

As a kid, I used to think that this was nuts even then and now, well how frigging crazy is this invention to see, I cannot imaging the distraction from the noise of this circular Buzz saw that screams around at the speed of sound to “Fling” off any H2O that maybe sitting on the visor.

So Today I thought that I would show some of these Crazy inventions and make you smile today, but- in all the many decades of riding I have done back home and all over Europe, I have never encountered one of these.

Were there ever any injury’s from this contraption at all I wonder?

Even the infamous Formula 1 race car driver Graham Hill tried this insane idea out.

 

So I wonder what happened to these things, as these were very antiquated inventions.

So I did a little research and bloody hell, they still frigging make them.

Some use them for Go karting and racing, how mad is that?

So . Pardon the Pun-it has actually come full circle?

 

So keep your eyes out for one of these, but I bet you hear it coming before you see it, it is sure to sound like an old Bi-Plane losing power.

So, what is there now that maybe knocks this into a cocked hat?

Triumph Motorcycles, it’s all in the branding!

Hey there gear heads

 

Well today I shall write a short blog on branding, as many people like to watch my blogs, even my competitor reads my website everyday to see if he can cash in on any idea’s. LOL!

 

But today I wanted to add some videos, seeing it is Friday and thought that this would be a good day to have a few snippets of movies, documentarys or commercials that show the Triumph brand.

 

First up is this unusual snipet, a little boring but it says Branding of the Trumpy all the way.

 

 

 

Well not all that interesting as it was to and fro on a few occasions but next up for your entertainment is this video.

Now, this Girl rider Lauren Richards from cold and wet Wales, takes the New Ace Thruxton for a little blap around her area and gives a nice run down on how she likes this Motorcycle. More power to you as we need more girl riders.

 

 

Now, this long winded Brit chin wags about his Machine, albeit a wee bit too dangerous if you are riding on busy roads as you tend to lose concentration whilst riding a motorcycle, but, again if you have a few minutes its great for me to check some of the countryside out of back home, but click past if you feel the geezer rattles on too long.

Socal Norton Club‎ 36th Annual Hansen Dam Ride and Show SUNDAY!

 Ok, this Sunday is coming around super fast and I shall be heading down to Hansen Dam for the Norton Owners Club 36th Meeting that is annually and boy what a treat this is.
Last year was my First attendance at the Hansen Dam ride and boy did I have fun there, a few hundred bikes turned up and the ride through the canyons was brilliant fun, no need to race but you could give it an ear full if you so required, but I sure did have fun on My Thruxton.
I will be going again with my crew from the Orange County 59 Club and take in the atmosphere of this well represented Norton club.

This is a great event and for all classic Motorcycles, if you want a fun day out on your two wheeled machine on Sunday, then this is the place to be at.
You will see a few faces you may know there, I saw Barry Weis there and he is such a fun guy to chat too.
Also you will see Many unique machines from Norton, to Greeves, it will all be there and a great hang out before the ride into the twisties.
 If you see us, please come and say hello as this is one of the friendliest meets I have never been too, other than the VJMC as their events are super cool too.
So get ya arse down here if you can as it is a memorable ride and so many cool classic machines to look at.

A Drag racing Kinda day

Hello Folks


Well, seeing as the day is flying by faster than a Drag race at the strip for Nostalgia motorcycles, i thought that i would add a few Drag Racing photos to make your day go maybe a little faster.

Since I have been back from my Vacation to Jolly Europe I have been eager to get right into making new parts and offering them to you lot.

I have a bunch of things I am offering from Steel Frame hoops, to New seats, to New headers and Exhaust systems.

59 Club Ride to Vintage Motorcycle meet up in Huntington Beach!

59 Club History

 

What a great day we had on Sunday, Blue skies albeit the Sun was Baking in Anaheim, but- once we saddled up at Alea’s cafe, we headed towards the sea and I tell you, it was a welcome feeling of the cooler temperature and sea breeze as we approached Pete’s Grill on Brookhurst.

We had a nice little turn out today, about 12 came to the Cafe to meet up and it sure was nice to hear all them exhausts hitting different tones as they wound the loud button up and we headed for the freeway.

 

The ride was at a nice pace as we had some new people attend and great to meet them too, we stayed in formation and headed up the 91 to the 57 past Anaheim Angels Baseball Stadium , I moved up and down the group and so awesome to see and hear all these cool Motorcycles as we wind our way towards the beach town of Huntington.

 

 

We stopped off just down the road to get gas and bloody hell its already gone up 75 cents a gallon since yesterday, sneaky buggers!

We tend to fill up here as the freeway is about 500 yards ahead of us and easy to get to places from here when we go on a ride.

The other side is Arco but they tend to serve laquer thinner most of the time.

We all gassed up and seeing as the price of petrol is sky rocketing in So Cal, glad we were on Motorcycles.

I think Bryan below was texting the Government to say they are gouging us!

Below, I have a quick Chin wag as to where we are going, whilst everyone fuels up on this hot July day.

 

Blue Skies on this Sunday on July 12th a nice Breeze from the sea was already on its way and appreciated.

Great fun to have cool people with Mike and His Mrs leading the way.

More bikes here than KFC had nuggets.

 

I was suprised at how many bikes turned up, this is a great little meet up of which we shall attend again at some point.

Plenty of ringa Dinga Two Stokes here as well.

Something for everyone here at Huntington and sure enjoyed looking around.

 

Plenty of Triumphs about too as we take in all the fun atmosphere.

This Bonnie was clean and really nicely done.

 

Here was an Early Curtiss Arrow that would shake your fillings out!

Plenty of Brit iron here and I loved everything that was on display.

Not sure who the owner was as i wanted to ask what Chapter of the 59 Club he was in.

Now this is how I would like to find a trumpy to restore.

An Almagamation of Honda’s too, there is the GCR or gerards I built a few years ago. now has over 50,000 miles on it.

Bryan’s CB650 sat in the sun and looked awesome.

Wanted to chat to this fella with his Norton but he had to dash.

 

A mixture of all brands and styles and that makes a good bike event.

See if some of you can make this Monthly meet as its sure fun to go to.

Early RD bought back great memories for me.

KH kawasaki 500 were so popular back home but been 30 years since I have seen one.

Plenty of them here and loved it all.

 

You could smell the Castrol R.

Velocette was such a great time capsule here- loved to of owned this.

Love the Fishtail exhaust.

All sorts to see with many coming in and out all day.

litle harley Sprint was a rare sight to clap your eyes on.

 

Another Velocette to look at, getting hard to find these days.

Always loved their logo..

 

I wanted to buy this 305 for Jennifer.

Mach III would pull your arms off.

memory lane here, such a rare find.

Another hard to locate bike is this 400-4 Super Sport and what a great example this was.

69 trumpy was simply lovely.

Little HD was catching plenty of attention.

This guy was 75 years too late and batting for the wrong team!

Pair of Matching Triumphs come rolling in.

A motorcycle delight and so much to see and chat too.

Honda Street tacker looked fun.

Super-hawk cafe, the owner works for HONDA.

This 750 Commando was clean as hell and I would of loved to have ridden it home.

Another rare sight, the good old GT550 Suzuki.

There was a nice turn out and people were all friendly and generally took an interest in what you were riding.

Unusual Green Beemer cafe but it was Nice.

Loved this GMC Swat team special and we need one for the club, anyone got one of these we can buy?

Old customer of mine, I remember repairing the exhaust and adding tail light and signals 5 years back, great to see him still riding the SS.

All sorts of bikes were here and thats what makes it Unique and fun, plus bikes came in and out all the time.

I loved this Little Trumpy Bobber.

Heading out as the infamous Gerard on his GCR Cafe Racer rode down from Palmdale!

Always a cool collection of bikes and people and there were a few Guzzies too!

You never get to see too many CB650 Honda’s but Bryan is a Customer of mine and this bike I redid for him sounds so cool on the pipe!

 

 

So we decided to head back but via PCH seeing as there was a cool Breeze and it was great fun.

 

PCH is always busy in the Summer, especially on a weekend but nice to slow down and check the beach and sights out.
