TELEVISION I WATCHED AS A KID IN THE UK .

Howdy all

Well today I thought I would reminisce as something jogged my memory into Television programs that Me and My Brother Mick watched as kids back in England in the 70’s.

Some of these you will know, some you may not ( Especially if you are not from Great Britain ).  None the less, it may give you a small insight as to what we watched as a kid, We didnt get a color TV until the 70’s after we moved from North London to the East Coast in Bury St Edmunds.

British TV only had 3 TV channels back then, BBC1 BBC2 and ITV, I liked ITV as they had adverts and today I wanted to share a few things we watched.

SHAZZAN:

I loved this as a kid but thought the name of the Camel was stupid, but used to shout Shazzan when the kids put the ring together.

Another cartoon that was on tv on saturdays or on Summer Holidays was the Arabian Knights. But They were part of a crazy show we watched called The Banana Splits.

Here is the full Saturday Morning she we watched.

Another Cartoon we watched was marine Boy, he took Oxygen Pills so he could breath under water, but they banned it later as kids were taking Asprin and jumping in swimming pools almost drowning, thinking they could breathe underwater.

Another cartoon we watched was Herge’s adventures of tin-tin. Hated the dog though.

Sometimes late on a Saturday we might get a sneak watch of George of the Jungle.

We used to watch the Double Deckers too.

I loved all the cool Puppet animatronic and Joe 90 was great, stick him in a sphere, give him radiation, Glasses and a brief Case and he is all set.

Stingray was Epic.

Then there was of course The Thunderbirds. 5-4-3-2-1, Thunderbirds are GO!!!

But the best for me was Captain Scarlet, whats a great opening sequence, a special agent getting shot and Killed, right at the start.

And then the closing sequence, Captain Scarlet drowning in quicksand or tied up and dropped in the sea, how cool was that to see as a kid?

captain scarletcaptain scarlet1

I used to have nightmares about this one below.

ScarletSharks

And then getting pierced to death in this, oh my as a kid I was “What the hell”

ScarletSpikes

Lastly, they even blew him up and he fell off a building.

Custom 1936 Harley Davidson

Published by Cyril Huze April 24th, 2017

Motorcycle advertising campaigns with a great consistent theme have produced great sales to consumers. Having a deep education and professional background in marketing and advertising to which was mixed my love for motorcycles, with a few others in the current custom industry  I am over appreciative of what Harley-Davidson has accomplished in terms of popularity, culture and respect all over the world.

And when Customs Builders volunteer their know how to enrich and extend this H-D branding without betraying it, it makes me happy…To be simple, where marketing is to sell a motorcycle, pushusing it to consumers, branding aims to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains loyal customers.

What a better example than the desirable characteristics bred or rebred into the Harley WL. Like others, I am convinced that this H-D model owns an indestructible/forever immortal bloodline.

0goldbobber1

I don’t mind that some will not find this WL period-correct, or too Bobber or too Bling or whatever of your choice. Branding is the expression of the essential truth of an organization like Harley-Davidson .

0goldbobber20goldbobber3

The WL characteristics, values, and attributes continue to activates new buyers of new models, advocates, even evangelists, out of all those who buy and customize…

0goldbobber40goldbobber50goldbobber60goldbobber7

Flash back to 1931. All of Harley-Davidson’s remaining American competition is now gone except Indian (Hendee Manufacturing) and Harley-Davidson, the only two American motorcycle manufacturers until 1953. At that time, the scene was mainly a game of choosing between Miles or Speed. Joe Petrali begins a five-year consecutive streak of winning the AMA Grand National Championship. Petrali also wins the National Hill-Climb Championships for 1932 to 1935. Joe Petrali and his Harley-Davidson peashooter win all thirteen of the American Motorcycle Association National Championship dirt track races. In 1936, Harley-Davidson introduces the EL, an overhead valve, 61 cubic inch powered bike. With increased horsepower and bold styling changes, the motorcycle quickly earns the nickname of “Knucklehead,” due to the shape of its rocker boxes.

0goldbobber80goldbobber90goldbobber100goldbobber11

This custom 1936 WL intends to perpetuate the Harley bloodline and was born from the meeting of Michael Lorum in its Poland barn with Miro from EastSide Customs in Germany. At Miro‘s workshop, Michael recognized a wreck sitting in a corner but it looked like there was nothing left to restore, although a few pieces could be recognized and dated from a 1936 WL paperwork. Worth doing something? Yes, they decided although they are still looking at how the WL fragments landed there…

0tergoldbobber50goldbobber120goldbobber130bisgoldbobber4

Of course, dedication and persistence are the names of the game and just as an illustration. this custom WL is in big bart a very patient process of straightening, of smoothing out, of “true” gold plating and hardwiring with all the risks involved in working with such a soft, malleable, and ductile metal… Add to this very preciously curved wood parts, an another material very little used on motorcycles and requiring to be a great artist. Admire handgrips, floorboards, kicker pedal, shifting, etc. Under the right light at night, it looks like a very light elegant Duesenberg, You know the type of vehicles creating a non-breakable brand bloodline for generations to come .(photos @ Gerd Scheidel at Studio 1, text with help Horst Röesler written by Cyril Huze, model Jaqueline).

FOR SALE 1976 CB750F $3500

Here we are with a 1976 Honda CB750 F Super Sport that has been turned into a cool Classic style Cafe Racer, the price is determined by the fact that it is not a new build and it does have a few scratches here and there etc and, it does jump out of 2nd gear, hence the price, But still a great deal as I rode it today and what a blast.

ss13

Still Hauls hard through the rest of the gears and I am still adding a few things to this as I try and get the bike looking how I would want it.

Although I do have a Customer visiting me on Thursday to look at it and take it for a spin.

ss15

This has had a lot of work done by me over the last year and it has the SS Gas tank that I hammered the knee inserts into, then cut the old gas cap flap out and welded that flat, then added a stainless Steel 2 Inch Monza style Flip Top Gas Cap.

It has one of My Rocket seat bases on thats covered with soft upholstery and is damn comfortable for sure.

ss12

Now, I have fitted some Original 1975 Marzochhi Race shocks, these are a rare find anyway but i wanted that ride height and now she sits well and straight and the shocks soak up the bumps as you power around the roads etc.

ss11

This has Clubman bars with a set of GT grips with shorty rectangle Mirrors,.

The gauges work but are stock but sat on my custom Gauge panel that’s polished alloy and sets the top end out from the rest.

ss9

The front forks are polished and also have braided hoses throughout, you will also notice that Both Rotors are drilled for that old school look.

New battery keeps the thing alive and has a good 630 chain and sprocket set up to handle the torque of the inline four motor.

ss5

19 inch front wheel and wide 18 inch rear are powder coated black with Stainless spokes and painted hubs, give this bike a tough look indeed.

ss7

Today I cut and bobbed an old front fender and fitted to the bike and man it hugs nice and tight over that 110X90X19 front tire.

ss1

It fires right up and idles and is a fun machine, as I said- No show bike but a great looking ride that you wont be afraid to leave out anywhere.

ss19

So-have a look and see what you think, its a cool machine for sure. Call – 714-598-8392 for more info….

TON UP CLUB IN NORWAY 1958

Hey there All

Happy Monday, and by now you have gotten over the chomping of Eater Eggs and the like and now back to reality and into work once more and try and get the week off to a bang, and I want to help by showing an old movie, not in English at all and having the word FARTS as the start just cracked me up.

The movie is called FARTS FEBER which roughly translated means ” SPEED FEVER”

fartsfeber6

Norwegian propaganda motorcycle movie
Don’t be a motorcycle hooligan and ruin for the other nice motorcyclists – I believe that was the message 🙂

fartsfeber5

This movie was produced in 1958 it is about 10 minutes in length and is more of a documentary on not to be a Ton Up Boy and if you want speed, go to Speedway.

I see the 250 Jawa  was a predominant bike featured in this film, but there are Many Triumph and BSA’s in the shots and to be honest some awesome footage for the time, loved the roads and the advice on braking back then, teaching road discipline and give way to pedestrians etc.

fartsfeber3

I don’t understand a word of Norwegian but it didn’t matter as the Rock N Roll Boogie song most of the way through was super cool.

The chunky Speed demon got his comeuppance when he met his demise racing on the road. A lesson there, Don’t over take on a bend.

fartsfeber4

And wear a Skid lid too, although a few shots of the Ton Up Club guys didn’t have their helmets fastened at all.

fartsfeber2

Watch all of the movie, its only 10 minutes but well done for back then and some great footage and moving shots to say the least.

fartsfeber1

it just goes to show that the Rocker scene was strong all over Europe by 1958, so an epic TON UP Movie for me and gets the Thumbs up!

fartsfeber7

I hope to acquire a copy to keep as this is the first time I have watched this am am surprised I have never seen it before.

fartsfeber8

I am glad I got to see it and wanted to here today to get your Monday off to a Bang!

fartsfeber10

Thanks for watching, Ride safe but have fun none the less.

Have a Great Easter Weekend everybody!

Wow! Is it that time of year already?

easter

Crazy where last year has globe but alas, its here and Jennifer and I shall be heading to one of our 59 Club members for Easter, a Fellow Brit too, so a fun time we shall have and I hope you lot will do too.

Happy Easter everyone. Ride safe.

easter2

Orange Circle has their Annual Street Rod show.

Well, Jennifer went for a long ride on her Bonneville today with our 59 Club members, I had a few things to get done at home didnt have all day to ride, but what I did manage to do was jump on my Triumph Thruxton and ride down to the City of Orange for their annual car show.

Always a big turn out, I have been many times and always something new to see, so I slung my leg over the 2 wheeled machine and headed out there to see what they had on offer this year.

If you are ever in this neighborhood, always check the local rag to see what shows may be on as there is always something on from now on and as our weather is always great, you can really enjoy the atmosphere and not worry about the H20 Pouring down like so many other states still have this time of year.

I like to walk about and see what New rides have turned up, orange county has been the Hub of the Hot Rod and Custom Industry for many years and its great to be so close to so many events.

So I wanted to try and capture some of the stuff that they had at the Circle today. there was something for everyone and the weather was as good as it always is and I loved alking about in the relaxed atmosphere just checking out peoples machines.

So, below is a few photos that I have taken that I thought I would share on my Blog today.

Enjoy.

The Damned 1963

Well, when this weird movie came out, I was just a year old, its crappy and black and white but that’s what I love about the old B movies, suspense and thrillers, a few Rockers thrown in and there you go. A totally weird movie, but just for the tacky music and the great motorcycles, clothing and old School England, brings back great memories for me.

Dont take it for seriousness, its a mix of Juvenile delinquents, Social welfare, espionage, Government secrets, and science fiction all rolled into a small sandwich to get your teeth into. It may not be the best sandwich you ate but- you will sure remember it. LOL.

the damned 1963b

Movie Info:

Joseph Losey directed this unusual science fiction effort, which has won a small but fervent cult following. Simon Wells (MacDonald Carey) is an American visiting England, where he meets a woman named Joan (Shirley Ann Field).

the damned

Simon is immediately attracted to Joan, but there’s a considerable obstacle in their budding romance: Joan’s brother King (Oliver Reed), the leader of a violent pack of motorcycle Rockers. King has a barely concealed incestuous attachment to his sister, and he sometimes uses her to lure victims into his gang’s clutches.

the damned 1963

King and his cronies attack Simon, take his money, and leave him stranded, where he’s eventually found by a pair of military security men. Simon is brought to the home of Bernard (Alexander Knox), a scientist working on a secret project for the government, and his girlfriend Freya (Viveca Lindfors), a sculptor.

TheDamned_002

Joan eventually tracks Simon down in hopes of winning his forgiveness, but another run-in with King causes Simon and Joan to discover a cave that holds a terrible secret: a group of strange, cold-blooded children who were the products of one of Bernard’s experiments gone wrong.

the damned 1963e
The children were genetically engineered to survive a nuclear war, and, as a result, they are radioactive enough to kill anyone who comes in close contact with them. Controversial in its day, The Damned was produced in England in 1961 but was not released until 1963, when Hammer Films booked it as the second-half of a double bill with Maniac. It did not reach American screens until 1965, when it was shown under the title These Are the Damned. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

the damned 1963a

This is a film not often seen these days.

I have the film and will show it to fellow 59 Club members on a film night to make it more fun.

Here is the whole shooting match if you have time to atch, its slow but its history, a little like a cross between Clockwork orange and Rockers.

These are the Damned 1963 by Alice-Bauer

Classic Japanese Cafe Racers

People know me for the CB750 Honda, and that inline four is one of the most robust motors out there, but many other Brands are just as good, the Kawasaki Z model and the infamous Suzuki GS model too.

Here is just a couple of videos I saw and thought I would share today for my Blog.

Enjoy.

Ace Cafe Orlando To Open spring 2017

Construction of Ace Cafe Orlando Rolls Toward Spring 2017 Opening. It’s the first North American outpost of the world’s most celebrated London-based motor-diner. The new destination in Central Florida Will Feature full-Service restaurant, bars, live music Stages, retail Stores, dealership, gallery and more…Construction workers are in high gear completing the 35,000-square-foot parcel bringing more than 175 new jobs to the local economy. The Orlando Ace expects to draw over 400,000 people to downtown annually.

aceorlandologo

Since 1938, Ace Cafe London has been a mecca for those passionate about cars, bikes and rock ’n roll culture. The original location on London’s North Circular Road began as a simple roadside cafe for truckers, then evolved into a popular destination for rock ‘n roll-loving teens riding motorbikes during the ’50s and ’60s. Today, the Ace has a multi-generational appeal from motorsports enthusiasts from all over the world.

Ace Cafe Orlando is located on a three-acre parcel in downtown Orlando at the corner of West Livingston Street and Garland Avenue, now known as “Ace Corner.” The Ace is renovating and refurbishing three 100-year-old buildings – once home to Harry P. Leu’s supply company – preserving the structures’ authenticity and even repurposing its original materials (for example, every table inside the Ace is made from the wood and heavy timbers reclaimed from the barn on property) – while also evoking the essence of the original Ace Cafe London. “We’re thrilled to welcome Ace Cafe to downtown Orlando,” said Thomas Chatmon, Jr., executive director of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency. “This entirely-new destination’s unique blend of restaurant, bars, retail, live music and event spaces will entice a variety of demographics to downtown. The Ace’s economic impact will be immeasurable.”

ace florida

Much larger than its London namesake, Ace Cafe Orlando spans two floors and will feature a full-service restaurant, two kitchens, four bars, a coffee bar, a communal counter, a mezzanine that overlooks the main floor dining area and stage, and private and semi-private spaces for groups both large and small. Rounding out the offerings inside the Ace are Rockers Speed Shop (selling official branded Ace gear and apparel); a BMW motorcycle dealer; Dainese D-Store (Italy’s most famous high-tech riding gear and accessories brand); EagleRider motorcycle rental company (the world’s largest motorcycle tourism company); and Stonebridge Motorgallery, selling an ever-changing line-up of original motorsports and rock ’n roll-inspired artwork, photography, sculptures, and memorabilia, as well as collectable vintage and one-off custom motorcycles. World-renowned artists including Michael Lichter, David Uhl, Antonio Merinero and Makoto Endo, as well as local favorites, will be represented.

Under the tutelage of Executive Chef Christopher Truesdell, the Ace’s menu can be defined as American Gastro-Diner fare, featuring made-from-scratch home style comfort food with a twist that captures the authentic spirit and flavors of some of the best diners and backroad joints across the country, all at an affordable price point. Of course, there is also a nod to Ace Cafe’s roots with authentic British favorites like Bangers & Mash, Fish & Chips, and Chicken Curry. A carefully-curated list of house-made specialty craft cocktails, fresh juices, Super Martinis, wines, cold-pressed and hot spiked coffee drinks, spiked and non-spiked fresh gelato milkshakes, and an amazing beer list of craft, domestic and imported brews across 104 taps headline a bountiful array of adult beverages available from four fully-stocked bars. The Ace is also family-friendly, complete with sharable appetizers, fresh super food salads, Gluten-free options, and a children’s menu, not to mention all the eye-catching cool cars and bikes on display on any given day. Ace Cafe Orlando is destined to become a popular destination for all ages in the middle of the City Beautiful.

Ace-Cafe-Orlando-construction-interior-2-3.28.17

And then there’s the great outdoors at Ace Corner — the siren call for motor- and music-lovers, alike. Guests can drink and dine on a large outdoor backyard patio, or grab a Julius Meinl coffee while admiring hot rides through giant garage doors that open onto a large “car park,” (parking lot) where the coolest vehicles will become the focal point each day for car club and bike meets and mingling. Parking is free for Ace guests, with several public parking garages also in close proximity. When complete, the entire three-acre area can host up to 7,000 guests.

Following the opening of Ace Cafe, attention then turns to completing two key spaces inside Ace Corner, now under construction and on track for a summer 2017 opening: an 8,000-square-foot, one-story live music and bar venue called The Blue Cap Shack, also home to the area’s first Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ, the Kansas City-based BBQ restaurant voted “Best BBQ” by Anthony Bourdain, Chef Wolfgang Puck and USA Today; and a Backyard Beer Garden featuring an outdoor stage for live music accommodating up to 1,200 people, ideal for bike and car meets, concerts and private parties.

“As we get closer to opening, it is so rewarding to watch this multi-faceted project come together,” said
Mark McKee, CEO and Chief Gearhead of Ace Cafe North America. “We are building something so special, a place that’s focused entirely on the Central Florida community. From petrolheads and aficionados to would-be enthusiasts who want to take a rental spin on the weekend, to concert-goers who want good music and specialty cocktails, to families searching for a fun and affordable dining spot – the Ace is for everybody.”

Ace Cafe is the most famous motor-diner on the planet. Ace Cafe North America holds the exclusive licensee rights in North America and South America for this world-famous brand. Ace Cafe Orlando is the first North American venue for Ace Cafe.
