This Scrambler is a fun bike to ride, I have my own that I really enjoy blapping around on and this particular steed has been looked after, it has 9000 miles on the odometer and has a full Service history too, with all the Original Documentation. Having the Matte Black is cool, I believe they only did the Matte color for 2012, the rest were all gloss, so a unique opportunity here just for the color option.

It has some nice factory extra’s such as the never usually seen Main stand, it has the neat triumph Chrome double grab bar, as well as the Black Engine dresser/protector bars that are a handy feature to have on your machine. This runs really well like a tight wound wristwatch, No oil leaks and no noises that should not be there, ridden by a Motorcycle rider that has been in the saddle for over 30 years, never thrashed. new oil and a smooth transition through out the gear change. The Clutch bites strong as it should do, no chatter etc.

This One Owner Scrambler has been looked after, garaged at night and never thrashed, it is a really well looked after machine that you will enjoy, the Black on Black Livery is so suited to this Triumph and the un-torn seat shows how much this motorcycle was cared for. The Scrambler takes its inspiration from those old Triumph ISDT machines that were once famously ridden by Steve McQueen with its classic styling dominated by twin high-level exhausts, designed to provide maximum ground clearance on rough terrain.

The design of the bike is pretty old school, only adding to its modern-day appeal. The utilitarian style is highlighted by the two simple single-color options, with a new Matte Black option joining the popular military-style Matte Khaki Green. Likewise, the spoked wheels with lightly knobbed tires, high footrests, rugged fork gaiters and wide, off-road style handlebars give a further nod to the Scrambler’s off-road heritage. Then there are items such as headlight grills, skid plate, and number boards, all of which adds even further resemblance to the ISDT models of the 60’s.

Powering the Scrambler is a unique version of Triumph’s 865cc parallel-twin engine. Designed outwardly to look like a classic 1960s twin, this DOHC eight-valve unit is a low-maintenance modern engine developed to meet the most stringent emissions regulations.

The fuel-injected twin delivers a laid-back output of 58 brake horsepower and 50 lb/ft of torque at just 4,750 rpm, making the Scrambler a versatile ride that can tackle a number of riding conditions. With its 270-degree crankshaft, the Scrambler takes on a totally different character to the other models in Triumph’s classic range, producing a totally addictive off-beat soundtrack which can be cranked up a notch and enjoyed just like those old mavens that used to run wild on the roads and highways of the world.

Here we are with a great Motorcycle for somebody, this is a great machine and with only 6500 Miles on the Odometer, this will be a great bike to take out  and enjoy the freedom of Two wheels.

I have changed a few things on this machine, to start off with, there is a set of Italian ZARD up sweep exhaust for that Road Racing circuit look, these are a super nice tone and stainless steel with Space Age heat wrap covering the header pipes.

I have made a Custom Union Jack seat and that has New foam too and very comfortable for them long journeys if you so wish to do.

 

Then I have added a New Chrome Grab Rail, just in case you are taking a Passenger or you can use it to hook Bungee straps to and carry things on the bike with no problems.

I Just fitted a Brand New Non maintenance Yuesa Battery to make sure everything is tip top and functions well.

Take a good look, this bike is clean, even under the fender its clean, a nice Motorcycle that I am sure the rider will get many miles of smiles with.

This bike is located in La Mirada and I have the title in hand too.

New Triumphs Hit the Shows

OK, here we are with a few photos that are belting around the internet and wanted to share them with you. the 2016 Thruxton is great as Track racer, but the others are a little too mainstream for my liking, but hey, they want to sell to the masses and that’s cool with me.

I love the front forks and the Rickman style fairing but front fender brace is over the top.

Yes- I would Ride this, very cool except for yellow springs on the rear Ohlins WTF up with that?

Lose the weird looking fender hangers and this would be great.

A Thorobred look, hope they sorted the shitty rear brake out this time.

Norton styled triple Tree configuration and I like this set up.

Looks fun to ride and I hope to sling my leg over one soon to test ride and report.

They Totally lost the plot here and looks like the Curry Basher Continental to me.

I Like this design in its simplicity.

I think the Brat guys and Hot Rodders will like this, but I am not a fan of the Spider web rims.

Other than the rims, I like the look of the bike.

Its a nice ride oter than looking like the Royal Enfield GT Continental .

Needs a smaller headlight but other than that I do like this motorcycle.

This looks boring and that exhaust looks like its off a steam train.

The T120 has a weird badge on the tank. But I am sure all these models will sell well.

Beckhams look great and the Belstaffs too!

 

New Triumph Thruxton Cafe Seat and Cowl assembly

Well, I thought it was time I came up with a few more ideas for my Thruxton and this is my latest one, this is a cool seat base and cowl assembly, complete with a snap upholstery that gives you the opportunity of using the cowl as a storage compartment.

I have loved the race snaps for many years and used this style of quite a few of my creations over the years and thought it only fitting that I design and build one for my own motorcycle and of course, offer the same to you.

 

These are not mass produced as i make these to order and what you get is personal attention with this assembly.

Have a look and see if you like this design, this is a new seat base, New Triumph rubber stops underneath and of course New foam and custom made seat cover with snaps, of which you can ask for different colored stitching too.

If you like the Nostalgic look and of course, you have a Thruxton, what cooler way than to go this route, as this gives you a superb option to get rid of that bulky Plastic stock rear tail light assembly as my Cowl comes complete with a Glass 12 Volt teardrop Light that is stop light and running light.

I took a lot of time in deciding how I was going to go with this and I like the set up, it may not be your cup of tea but for me I can drink that stuff all day and of course I do so.

So if you like this and would like to have one the same but different colored stitching, just email me on carpy@carpyscaferacers.com and I will make it happen as we can do red Stitching, Black, white or Grey, its up to you, you can also choose a different trim-Piping etc.

Thanks again, I always appreciate your input, good or bad as it is what makes me drive harder to get what you want. I have used stainless steel that was laser cut and bent in a Press to get the Hooks just right, I used Triumph Stoppers for the seat to Buffer on, New Foam and a New Fiber glass seat pan and then my new cowl with the recessed tail light. Then the Upholstery hand stitched and then snapped to give the old School look of years gone by.

Here we are with a brand new look to my 2013 Thruxton, as I had drawn this up a long time ago and wanted the old style look with a new ride.

I was so fortunate to be honored as the President of the 59 Club for Orange County, California and that was back in March 2014 and sure am stoked to have that bestowed upon me and I do my utmost to promote this famous club to the best of my ability.

I have made numerous changes to my Thruxton and am still making improvements as and when time and money is available.

As you may notice, I have made my own front bikini fairing, similar to the Thruxton but extended two inches on the top – and of course I have the ears extended back to give it a slight Rickman styling, also I added my 7 inch LED headlight that really sets the front end off on my machine.

I am from the UK and as a teenager I grew up loving motorcycles and immersed myself in what ever I could, I loved all the classics and my first ever Caff racer was back in 1978 when we got our provisional License and had a 50cc Suzuki that I put Clubman bars on, cut down seat and fitted a fairing and from then on I was hooked into the scene.

I used to go to all the Rocker Reunions to watch the Gene Vincent styled bands play, from Joe Brown and His Brothers to The Rapiers, who still gig today.

If you look on the tank I have painted Ton Up and ask any Rocker what that means, it means to go over 100 miles an hour and back in 1959 that was quite a feat to accomplish. This has nothing to do with the TON UP clubs that are all over the place, I had this logo many years ago as we were Ton Up Boys back then and this term was coined back home in the 1950’s by the 59 Club members. I wanted to use a Triumph Style font and love the look.

I made the tail cowl too and my seat has the compartment inside the cowl so that I can store all sorts of stuff for my ride. You will also notice the awesome polished finned Primary Cover that I received from Speed Merchant and boy does that look trick now.

I have Speed Merchant covers and love the look, fit and style of these castings etc, and get many good positive comments on the set up I have.

My stainless steel Monarch Megaphones bark like a scolded dog and actually improve performance, hope to get a dyno chart on them soon.

I also make the side covers too and have an air intake style grill that really helps the bike and as I now have pod filters, these breathes well.

Right now I am working on making brand new stainless steel headers for the Thruxton and the Bonneville, so stay tuned on my website for that.

I have the big wide 5.5 T.T. rear wheel set up with Wave rotors too on a stock swing arm and it handles very well but soon I will have new alloy rear swing arms that will be available for all to purchase for your rides.

I have TEC shocks right now with my covers I machined on them to give that racy look and am happy with that set up until I can afford some Works Performance piggy backs.

The bike sits well and I have Wave rotors front and rear, it corners so well and have such fun with this bike.

Just have a look at the gorgeous SM Finned Clutch Cover, it really is a piece of art and a happy I went this route as its kinda Hot Roddy!

From the right side you can see that I have my own oil pressure gauge set up on the bike and I love to know I have good oil pressure.

I changed the Front sprocket to a 19 and love the performance and fuel millage on it and now will be fitting a nickel DID chain to compliment it.

To break 100 MPH in Great Britain back in the day was a major effort and the 59 Club were the first Rockers organized motorcycle club and that where you started to hear TON UP, doing the Ton, Ton up Boys, Ton Up Pirate, Ton up kid. To break ‘the ton’ was a huge achievement back in the day and gave you some bragging rights.

 

Back in the day my dad would point if we were in the car going somewhere and would say look, “Ton Up Boys”

My first Ton Up experience was putting my brother on the back of an RD200 and tapping him on the shoulder so he could look at my speedometer needle bouncing at the 101 MPH, it was an awesome experience and a sense of accomplishment back then, albeit it highly illegal, as it still is today!

The FIRST organized motorcycle club in Great Britain and when Britain was really great was the club I am now president of here (the Orange County, California chapter) some 55 years later.

I wanted to fit my fairing on the bike and give it a slightly nostalgic look that I grew up with, having a fairing back then was not just cool it made you more aerodynamic, which meant you could go faster, I also used to be able to tuck stuff in the fairing like tools, maps and spark plugs, etc., and on occasion, as my throttle would stick, keep the throttle wide open on cold mornings on the freeway and put my cold hands in the fairing to warm up a bit.

My peanut style tank looks great in the new livery as green was just too common and I have had many green bikes over the years but always loved black and gold. you can see my old style European Fog light and oil pressure gauge to the right of the bike.

My ram air system style side covers not only looks cool they are cool and function very well transporting cool air to my pod filters.

Here is me on my Thruxton a few months ago taking Big Bear Area in, I loved how the bike handled with the new rims on.

New Swing arm now being Drawn up in Solid Works

I have been contemplating getting these manufactured for some time now, a couple of years ago I was speaking to a company that with my input, we should be able to manufacture these to the correct specifics and standards to allow the safe use of Aluminum material and of course as these are mechanical parts I want to make sure these are stress relived and comply to all the safety codes and standards that are required.

 

They will be made from 7075 and an Aerospace company is going to help me with the R&D to make sure that all will be safe and of course have a Perfect fit with easy maintenance etc. The R&D will be done by a friend of mine that has made swing arms for over 50 years for TT bikes, Super bikes and Motocross, so a plethora of experience, these will be top quality, the best anywhere.

This will take a little while for me to get this all how I want it, I have now sent a stock swing arm to a specialist who will be using Solid Works to draw this all up, then once that is done all the Stress relive work and magnafluxing will be determined as these have to be bang on and built by people that know what the Parameters must be for Alloy Swing arms.

I think I will have mine as a polished set rather than just Black but also have the option of Powder coat or anodizing too.

59 Club History

 

What a great day we had on Sunday, Blue skies albeit the Sun was Baking in Anaheim, but- once we saddled up at Alea’s cafe, we headed towards the sea and I tell you, it was a welcome feeling of the cooler temperature and sea breeze as we approached Pete’s Grill on Brookhurst.

We had a nice little turn out today, about 12 came to the Cafe to meet up and it sure was nice to hear all them exhausts hitting different tones as they wound the loud button up and we headed for the freeway.

 

The ride was at a nice pace as we had some new people attend and great to meet them too, we stayed in formation and headed up the 91 to the 57 past Anaheim Angels Baseball Stadium , I moved up and down the group and so awesome to see and hear all these cool Motorcycles as we wind our way towards the beach town of Huntington.

 

 

We stopped off just down the road to get gas and bloody hell its already gone up 75 cents a gallon since yesterday, sneaky buggers!

We tend to fill up here as the freeway is about 500 yards ahead of us and easy to get to places from here when we go on a ride.

The other side is Arco but they tend to serve laquer thinner most of the time.

We all gassed up and seeing as the price of petrol is sky rocketing in So Cal, glad we were on Motorcycles.

I think Bryan below was texting the Government to say they are gouging us!

Below, I have a quick Chin wag as to where we are going, whilst everyone fuels up on this hot July day.

 

Blue Skies on this Sunday on July 12th a nice Breeze from the sea was already on its way and appreciated.

Great fun to have cool people with Mike and His Mrs leading the way.

I was suprised at how many bikes turned up, this is a great little meet up of which we shall attend again at some point.

A mixture of all brands and styles and that makes a good bike event.

KH kawasaki 500 were so popular back home but been 30 years since I have seen one.

This 750 Commando was clean as hell and I would of loved to have ridden it home.

Another rare sight, the good old GT550 Suzuki.

There was a nice turn out and people were all friendly and generally took an interest in what you were riding.

Unusual Green Beemer cafe but it was Nice.

Loved this GMC Swat team special and we need one for the club, anyone got one of these we can buy?

Old customer of mine, I remember repairing the exhaust and adding tail light and signals 5 years back, great to see him still riding the SS.

All sorts of bikes were here and thats what makes it Unique and fun, plus bikes came in and out all the time.

I loved this Little Trumpy Bobber.

Heading out as the infamous Gerard on his GCR Cafe Racer rode down from Palmdale!

Always a cool collection of bikes and people and there were a few Guzzies too!

You never get to see too many CB650 Honda’s but Bryan is a Customer of mine and this bike I redid for him sounds so cool on the pipe!

 

 

So we decided to head back but via PCH seeing as there was a cool Breeze and it was great fun.

 

PCH is always busy in the Summer, especially on a weekend but nice to slow down and check the beach and sights out.

OK- it is time for the 59 Club O.C. section to take a ride out to Chino Hills this saturday to check out the cool show that is an annual event and gathers a Plethora of Motor vehicles.

This is the First time for me and am excited to see what the show has to offer, and the weather should be great for riding to Chino Hills, so hope that you can all make it for the trip.

I think we have about 16 people riding from Aleas’ Cafe in Anaheim for the journey to the show and this should prove to be an entertaining meet up and like minded folk will be there too.

About the Show

The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show is an automotive gathering and Fridaycommemorative dinner held in early June to raise funds for Boys Republic, a private, non-profit, nonsectarian community for at-risk boys and girls ages 13-17. Established in 2008 by members and friends of the (Porsche) 356 Club of Southern California, the event attracts automobile, motorcycle and off-road motorsports enthusiasts from throughout the U.S.

Every summer the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show brings thousands of spectators to the Boys Republic campus, where 16 year-old Steve McQueen spent time as a student in 1946. Since its start in 2008, the event has raised over $750,000 and has helped to attract corporate interest resulting in donations of skilled labor and building materials through the Lowe’s Heroes community improvement project valued at more than $100,000.00.
