Cool Miniature Engines

Well, I think we can all agree, the sound of a V8 Motor is something to be admired, and what is even more interesting are these great engineers out there that have built replica motors but to a mode size, all these engines run and work just like the original motors.
I need to take my hat off to these people as their patience is unbelievable and their passion shows through their work.

I am sure there are many out there like me- that enjoy craftsmanship and attention to detail, and I thought I would post some super cool videos for you to have a look at and of course Listen to these micro motors.
Enjoy!

How about this Flathead motor, sounds just like tone as well, awesome job.

This guy builds some really cool engines, not cheap but heck, this is art and engineering combined.

Another beautiful Flathead V8 and sounds just like it should.

These guys really are on another planet, just top quality all the way.

Blown Small block model, at Goodguys show.

Nitro Motor model sounds fantastic.

RAT FINK DISPLAY IN HOLLYWOOD

Whilst running around on a weekend with Jennifer- my Girlfriend, we popped into my favorite book store in Hollywood, and Wacko book store has not just cool reading material, it has a very cool gallery for art and sculptures etc.

These started off as the Rat Fink statues, but artists have painted them to their own liking.

I wanted to share some of these with you as we were so suprised to see the iconic figure pop up in such a quantity.

Rat Fink has been something I have been into for many decades and am very good froends with the Roth family, so everytime I see anything cool like this, I try and Blog about it and share with you lot out there.

Many styles here and we had a great time at Wacko as everytime I shot that store, there is something different to feast your peelers on.

I took photo’s of all the ones on display, that way you can see what we did and be suprised as I was to the different styles people came up with.

This was the last day of the show too, so was lucky to even see it that weekend.

Cool Rockers Videos

Well, MONDAY already- So to ease the day in, I thought I would add some video’s that I watched over the Sunday, this really is just a amalgamation of videos from people and it shows some very cool early 1960’s Videos of Rockers on their bike at places like Box hill etc and banging the Ton on a busy A- Road back home in the UK.

Other videos have Rockers in the Uk and cover to the other side of the Globe in Hong Kong.

The Cafe Racer scene has grown and grown and it is a good thing, Motorcycling has become fun again and the camaraderie has also returned.

Make a cup of Tea, sit down and just spend a few moments watching some of the videos, there is some very cool footage here and I am sure that you will enjoy at least one of them.

Have a great week and enjoy…………..

CB500/550 STAINLESS STEEL 4 Into 1′s Now Available $399

Well, here we are, a cool set of stainless steel 4 into 1 exhausts for the good old CB500 and cb550 Four HONDA.

These are NOW available and ready to fit to your inline four machine, and boy do these look tasty!

Not only do they look great, these will outlast the raw steel versions by a long shot.

A great item to add to your wish list now that the Christmas countdown has already begun.

I have made a small run of these as they are not cheap to make but boy do they look great and as you know, these look very similar to the Original Yoshimura’s did back in the 1970′s when these were all the rage.

If you want a cool set of these, then I will have these up on the website for you to simply click and purchase and then I shall whisk them off to you.

These come with a removable baffle too, so you really are all set on this exhaust system and you will be pleased with these.

Take a look and you make your mind up as i sell many exhaust now and also am selling the cb350 versions too as well as Gs1000 and KZ1000 too.

Here are some pics to have a look at and get to see if you prefer the stainless steel or you could buy the cheaper version we make in raw steel on our website.

A great price and -Made in America too.

These come in a 36X16X16 box and we ship FED EX inside the lower 48 and the rest of the globe it goes USPS.

We also now make these with a cool Baffle that is Nickel Plated and comes with a real Ton Up Performance badge that you can Rivet to the exhaust if you so wish.
I am sure you will like the quality and the whole look for the price, as we try to be as fair as we can on these systems.
A very cool set up and we have just redesigned this and spent a month testing, to make sure that these do not foul the fender under braking and clears the frame etc.
Thanks for looking, I know you will dig them.

More viewing to make Wednesday a little less boring.

Wednesday is here and I thought I would add some more eye candy for you to all be able to view today and try and help with your day going by a little more easier.

Some more Vids from the net and I am sure that some you have seen and some I am sure you have not, but makes for great watching none the less.

This is MY lifestyle that I came accustomed too many years ago and do not think I shall ever lose that flame of ” The Café Racer”
Now, I dig al motorcycles and, the cool thing about the Café Racer rides , is that you can use anything as a platform- True, the Original Cafe’s were obviously Brit iron, but that’s getting expensive and, hard to locate in some countries, so that’s why I dig other brands too.
Check out this GUZZI project.

I moved out to Australia for about 4 years and I had a Café Racer out there, the scene is getting stronger all over the globe and it is so refreshing to see so many different breeds and now the XT 600 YAMAHA have come around to seeing how cool this look really is.
Check out this Mongrel

Now a HONDA 900, just cruising the back roads.

Now, back over the pond and across the water from my Original home of the UK, this is where the French do their stuff and have a great festival.

A french festival dedicated to vintage and customized motorcycles, taking place on the mythical Linas-Montlhery speedtrack. Loud pipes, boiling oil, hot tires and leatherjackets. Let’s rock.

Just cool video’s to help you through the day.

some days is hard to start, like a bike with a flat battery, so I do feel a little like this as I got up this morning, a warm bed is hard to leave, especially when the love of your life is all cozy and still nuzzled in the sheets, so as I got to work I thought that many others will have the same Tuesday blues, and I think the trick would be to at least give you something to view and look forward to in the warmer climates as you get into the shed each night to create your own Café Racer.
Below is a sedate but interesting Video of a girl on a Thruxton and some awesome Italian Country side views.

Milonga – A short film by Cafe Twin from Cafe Twin on Vimeo.

Sticking with the Thruxton motorcycle, and still in Italy, this is a bloke on a red 900 cruising around and taking the early Sunday morning in, if you own a motorcycle, then you will know what I mean when you watch these videos , as they have that certain feeling of forgetting about everything else in life and just enjoying your motorcycle.

Café Racer Queen is a really well animated clip that shows the Girl and her ride, I dig the whole concept and have to give great Kudos to the people for making this bang on!!!

Mooneyes Christmas Show 2013

A Cold and wet morning awoke us and the Moon eyes Christmas show must go on, I knew there would be no drag racing but still like to support these shows none the less as it is a super social event and of course, some really cool rides turn up and great to see other people brave the colder temperatures, as this year it is unusually cold for Southern Californian’s.

This show is like Santa and only arrives once a year and I am glad we showed up to see the turn out and of course the vendors selling their goods etc.

A wet, cold and grey day at irwindale this year- but it didn’t stop people coming out to celebrate the annual event here at the strip.

Plenty of So-Cal Vee Dubs attended and showed off what they had for all and sundry.

We arrived about 10:30 ish but it was great to see some cool rides and good friends that I had not clapped eyes on in quite some time, so an awesome social event despite the weather.

Cool VW Van with Radar rims and old school lettering.

Caddy powered and also a driving ride in this weather is testament to the hardy builders that come out to the show at the colder end of the season.

It rained off and on and the temps dropped as the day went along, but we spent a couple of hours there and met some good mates who I had not seen for some time.

Cool to see some old style artwork on this Econoline, sporting Candy Blue Steelies and pin line walls.

Rides came in and out most of the morning, and that was good as you saw many different customs and rods when you came back down the isles.

No Drags as the weather was too bad, but great to see some show up and show us what they had.

Today was certainly a day for Pendeltons.

Need Hair Grease anyone?

Rain or not, the show has t go on, and- even though there was no drag racing, it was still great to see Customs and Rods attend and show off their hard work that had been put into it all the last 12 months and more.

Juan Lopez-Tsmphotography Took these pin up shots as girls braved the weather.

Many Customs still showed up and some didn’t even have glass in the vehicles. This one below did and bet they were glad of it.

We loved the 62 Caddy, this was low and had a rolled tube front grill.

Chevy Custom with DeSoto grill is always sweet to see, as them grills are getting so hard to find nowadays.

Now, thats some masking right there.

Floating grill is a nice Barris style touch.

Chevy Suburban was cleaner than our cats rear end.

Plenty of Suede paint out there this year too.

Very Sharp looking T-Bird I would of gladly driven home.

Two door 50 Custom and with candy Root beer paint and also a wicked roof shop was a head turner for me.

Show me ya grill?

I love Caddy’s.

Smoother than Kojacks skull.

A lot of subtle work done to this 52/53 and I really like it.

Step side was sweet, looks like radars on them too.

You would not lose this in a parking lot.

So some cool rides still to see and glad we made the trip.

No Hood needed.

Aztec Gold is a great color.

I really like the Blue Suede.

Another clean ride and perfect paint job. With skirts and Sombrero’s.

Two Door 56 looked pretty good in this Brown scheme, I see this blapping about our area from time to time.

Jim Dunn, me and Dakota, great to see Jim, what a Racing legend.

I am quite partial to step sides and this was no exception and looked super slick in Gloss Black.

I loved the Trumpy.

Met up with my long term mate, Dennis Roth, you should check out all the metalflake they now produce and sell.

Another year over and we had a good time, met some cool friends and saw some really sweet rides, next year will be bigger and I am hoping the weather gods will be kinder, none the less, we shall still attend, and am thinking of having a booth there too.

OK- I have Done it, I put a deposit down on a New Royal Enfield Continental GT

Right-I have done it, I just went and bunged 500 smackers down on the New royal Enfield Continental GT.
No moans and groans, no worrying about payments etc and – no wonder – Asthese are going to be popular.
The price is so affordable and to their credit, they have actually taken time to see what improvements they could do to the little motor ad actually come up with a fun and cost effective machine.

Royal Enfield Continental GT Royal Enfield Continental GT

This is the all-new Royal Enfield Continental GT, it was released last week in the UK and before I go any further I’ll hit you with all the important figures – 29hp, 32.4ft-lbs, fuel injected, single cylinder, 535cc, 184kgs (wet) and about $5995 .

The Continental GT has been in the works for some time, a prototype was shown last year that looked almost exactly like the now-official production bikes. The model uses the same engine as many of the other Royal Enfield models though it has an all-new frame, fuel tank and other bright work to set it apart a little.

As with all Royal Enfield motorcycles it’s made in India, which goes a long way to explaining the relatively low price point, a similarly styled Triumph, Moto Guzzi, Harley-Davidson or Ducati will set you back thousands of pounds more, potentially making the Continental GT solid choice as a second bike for those who already have a tourer, a sportbike or a green-laning enduro.

Now, you have the choice to kick the girl in the guts by the traditional kick starter or- an easy press of a button and this little fuel injected  535cc motor to jump into life, admittedly this would not pull the proverbial weenie off a chocolate mouse but it does claim 32 foot-pounds at a healthy 4000 Rpm, and blapping about the So Cal country side at up to 80mph is nothing to be sniffed at.

If you want a total performance ,road hugging and affordable Cafe Racer for yourself, then this is right up your street or alley, and I am glad that I have bunged a wee bit of green stuff down on this and come January 2014 I should be banging the pegs on the tarmac.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 6 Royal Enfield Continental GT

With a simple, air-cooled 535cc with Keihin fuel injected engine the new Enfield is crying out for performance upgrades – the most common of which are likely to be a faster-breathing exhaust and a modified fuel-injection system that boosts horsepower above the 40 mark.

It’s not hard to see that a significant market exists for a classically styled bike at a price point that can be met by an average blue collar worker, that’s what the original cafe racers were after all. It remains to be seen how the bike performs, how reliable it is and how well it sells as Britain slips into another cold winter but I suspect it’ll probably do quite well in the long run.

At the end of the day, it’s a remarkably simple bike that exudes 1960s charm, so long as Royal Enfield can stay on top of any reliability issues, offer OEM performance upgrades and establish a dealer network they could be onto a winner here – Triumph had better be ready for a fight.

I am certainly up for the challenge and will of course tweak it about to my required fit, but this is a jump on ride deal, right out of the gate.

The new Royal Enfield Continental GT promotional Film – Ace Cafe to Madras Café.
A band of rockers embark on an epic 11,000 kilometre burn-up. They set out from the birthplace of café racer culture – the Ace Cafe, London and finish at Madras Café, India, close to the Royal Enfield plant in Chennai where the Continental GT is built. Spanning continents and cultures, this café-to-café ride captures the spirit of pure motorcycling and the exhilaration of getting astride the lightest, fastest, most powerful Royal Enfield motorcycle in production.

My mate from back home Sarah Bradley has ridden hers in India and really enjoyed the bike and that’s good enough for me, she is one of the best riders I have ever had the pleasure to follow about on a motorcycle.

She has been a Journalist in the motorcycle industry for longer than i care to count and she knows her stuff.

So-here is just a wee bit of information on the bike for you lot to have a look at and digest.

Also a wee bit more information that some of you lot may like.

This is going to be a fun adventure and i would like to see where I go with this, as there is no way I can leave things alone and will be obviously changing the machine to how I like it and maybe some of you will be into it too.

A touch of yesteryear and being fuel injected, no worries on jetting when I go up to 8000 feet at Big Bear.

Plus, coming in at about 380 pounds, this is s much lighter that the 750’s I ride and also lighter that the Thruxtons, which i also love and have owned in the past.

Ok- its not as powerful as the bigger machines but this is perfect for everyone to ride, be it the novice or the curve eating twisty racers out there, this is nothing to be sniffed at and I shall be doing a few blogs on how I feel about the workings and handling of this little red rooster.

It has an easy 5 speed gearbox that’s not hard to command and the clip on’s that are fitted and plonked on the top of the yokes make this a manageable ride for those who like me- know what the old versions were like.

Harris -Performance designed the steel cradle and it is testament to what they do and the handling is so much more responsive.

The Classic lines of the bodywork are actually courtesy of Xenophya Design, which also hail from back home in the UK.

Having Brembo brakes is a masterful idea and sat on Excel rims, gives it that yesteryear look but stopping power that we very much have to rely on these days in the fast paced lifestyle that we have accustomed to.

So, I look forward to bending the tach needle and experience the New Enfield and will report on all my findings as I go along this new road, just hope that the vibration issue on the earlier models have been ironed out else I will be spending a lot of money on thread lock paste.

Gas tank, seat base and headlight ready for fitting.

Here we are on a Throw Back Thursday, I have been busy today, not had time for a blog, but thought I would put a little something on the bike I am creating that I will put up for sale soon.

This is a unique Cafe and I am sure that you will like the end result, and so far it looks great.

The Gas tank has had my good old treatment of banging the crap out of it with a hammer and cutting the top and smoothing everything.

Right now she has really started to take shape and wanted to share it with you lot on here and see what you think?

Looking cool eh?

I aptly named the bike ” Rice Boiler ” as my old man always called my Jap bikes that.

1979 CB650 comes out of our stable

A little while ago I had a bloke in the shop on a bog stock 1979 CB650 Honda Four- it was a classic little bike that you really do not see on the road these days, I myself have never seen any around our area, so when he cruised in, I was all eager to have a look at the bike.

Well it was a cool motor but I wasn’t a fan of the styling at all, and when he asked if we could Cafe it out a bit, I was more than happy to oblige.

He left us the bike and the keys and we got into this little machine and it turned out to be a pretty cool bike when we rode it today for the first time.

The 650 wasn’t a huge seller as it was an odd displacement for Honda, seeing as they had a 550 and of course the bigger brother 750’s were bountiful, so a mid range motor just didn’t seem to catch on and as I said, you rarely see these machines anywhere these days.

But the Honda motor is a great little powerhouse and you can rev the bollocks out of these rice boilers and you will surprise yourself at the grunt this inline four has.

I took the tank off and then went about beating the crap out of the sides, until I liked the amount of indentation that was occurring with my hammer.

The stock seat I actually stripped and powder coated and then re-shaped and upholstered it, but really was not happy at the way it looked, so that was poo canned and i wanted to try one of our best selling seat bases, the good old Rocket 4.

This was so much better and complemented the gas tank and really was a done deal, I simply painted the tank and seat in these cool colors and then chose one of our Chromed L.E.D. rear tail light assemblies and now it was bang on at the Arse end of the bike.

This 1979 Honda was taking shape, I was still not into the stock exhaust but thought a cool thing would be to remove the original Can and then make up a swooping Stainless steel end pipe that really would make the bike have a little more aggressive look to it and I think that we accomplished that look.

We upholstered the seat base in one of our traditional Diamond stitched styles as that screams the era that we are looking for, also to have the racing snaps on the seat base not only gives it the look of yesteryear, it is a handy place to use to store documents as you only have to unsnap the covers and there you go.

Also, we got rid of the stock coil overs and fitted some piggy back shock absorbers, as well as lifting the rear a little too as we like that style of stance in this machine.

That stainless exhaust swoop it really cool and we fitted our Yoshimura style Baffle and finished off with a cool steel end cap, then to complete that look, we riveted one of our badges to the pipe.

This bike also had a New set of turn signals as the stockers were as big as fully grown Oranges and needed to be gone, the new ones are brighter than a math teacher and look the era too.

To make the Yellow and White Checkers flow, I added one of our shock mounted license plate holders with a Moon eyes Yellow license plate cover.

You will also notice the Chain Guard that Dakota hand made and we chromed, looks pretty tight eh?

The side covers were stripped of the old badges etc and we pinstriped the Silver to gibe this a nice contrast.

We removed the old master cylinder as it was weeping like an onion peeler and this also looked better in Black too.

I hope to add a video of the exhaust system as she is no raspy and sounds so cool compared to the stock set up.

We hope you like what we did to this bike? I prefer to strip down to the frame to be honest, but this was a fairly clean machine and it didn’t really warrant it.

This is a fun bike, even with my podgy arse perched upon it and we hope you enjoyed us showing you this bike as we used our club man bars and grips, and many other parts to make this machine stand out from a stock bike you may see puffing around town.

This was a fun project and this really did change the look of the stock machine and I am sure the owner is going to have a blast on this 650 around the Southern Californian twisties.

Let us know if you need parts for your mean machine.
